It captures a somewhat routine day with the police trying to find a body that's been buried but the investigation that is anything...read more but routine. This was a nice surprise. If you're looking for action, don't bother but if you're looking for a great film, this is it.

How the uncertainty and fear of living inside a city torn apart by invasion and now an insurgency affects normal people's lives. I found it depressing and enlightening. I hope that things will get better in Iraq.

Though there were bad points: all the style of the original movie was gone...this felt more like a TV movie and there were lots of cheesy moments and dialog.Though it was nice to see Jake change, to finally see the character achieve some closure and peace. And another thing that I thought was a welcomed addition here was clearer focus on poverty of the indigenous communities, that there was more personal awareness made of it in the form of a veteran gang member. Probably my own fascination with the Maori makes me a little biased in liking this movie and forgiving its faults.

Brett B (ru) wrote: I'm kind of miffed that I'm only just now discovering ROAD GAMES, because it's a pretty darn neat Australian thriller that draws upon many influences, yet the story still feels fresh and takes some unexpected turns. Hitchcock is the primary influence, as what we're basically dealing with is a REAR WINDOWish scenario played out across the Australian countryside, with a dash of Spielberg's DUEL thrown in for good measure. As our hero, Stacy Keach gives a terrific performance, and he injects a lot of personality, warmth, and even a philosophical tinge into the standard "everyman" part. He's joined by an enthusiastic, very likable Jamie Lee Curtis, and both are well-served by the script, which offers surprisingly intelligent dialogue. Additionally, the movie's got a healthy sense of humor (but it never tips over into outright comedy), and there are a couple quite stylish moments courtesy of director Franklin. It's not earth-shattering, or THE BEST THRILLER OF ALL TIME, or anything like that, but it is a really fun little flick.
