Eric H (gb) wrote: A great film that portrays the often overlooked lives of those caught in the occupation. It succeeds at showing the humanity of the Palestinian people, often portrayed in the media as faceless rock throwers. As to the previously stated review that this is a propaganda film, I don't see it as so. This film shows the evils that can come from both sides of history. Both are working towards what they believe is right, both lost in the confusion of politics and their societies. This film reveals a glimpse at the hardships of living in occupied Palestine.

David P (br) wrote: This is a bad, bad movie. But man, I had fun watching it and even more fun after it, reminiscing about all the hilariously bad elements. But if you're watching this movie, you've probably already seen the 1st one and know exactly what you're in for. And it is very much of the same. A lot of people are saying that the director is now aware of how dodgy he is with the first film being unintentionally funny. But I'm not sure. I think he may just be ignorant of all the negative words that are being said about his masterpiece and honestly thinks he is a good filmmaker. I don't know if you can effectively pull off some of the lameness that occurs in this film intentionally. So it takes a good forty five minutes before the birds rise from the dead and attack out heroes. In the meantime we are treated to a story about a struggling movie director casting a struggling actress and falling in love with her. I actually enjoyed this part of the film more, at least there was some thread of a storyline, no matter how thin and how bad the acting is. That's part of the charm. But then the birds attack on the set of their movie and there is no real progression from there. They just seem to go from set to set fighting the birds. There's a funny moment when one of the characters claims that if he makes it through this he is going to write a script about birds attacking. Then another character who happens to be an executive producer says that he will option the script. Gold. Needless to say from there the group fights zombies and cavemen as well as the dreaded birds. And even learn a little about global warming along the way. This movie has everything! It is going to be a long shot to say that this will be playing in any theaters around you, and I doubt your local blockbuster will have this one on the shelves. You're best bet is to watch Birdemic 2 on YouTube or download it. Don't worry, you won't be losing much quality, if any. 2/5

Tom Helge H (jp) wrote: A horror comedy that is as weird as the name implies. Very very Japanese in the humour this movie has a lot of funny stuff for western audiences as well but for me a lot of the interaction among the characters became tiresome. Good for a low budget movie!

Joshua D (br) wrote: Knowing that the director experienced these events makes the film seem more moving. Whereas my first thoughts were that it is a jumbled mess with flat direction.

Randy P (ag) wrote: It doesnt have to be physically violent to make you uncomfortable. If you think your life is unfair, then watch this. This also proves that if you live in a suburban home, no one will ever suspect that you are being abused. Yet we think that happens all the time in broken down homes and foreign countries. You could be wrong.

Rafael V (es) wrote: The characters may be boring if you dontt know the original series but the plot its very engaging and the animation still looks great

David M (es) wrote: Post-body horror Cronenberg veers form the obtuse Cosmopolis into the nihilistic satire of Maps to the Stars which essentially adds nothing to the "Hollywood is vapid and nepotistic to the point of incest" cliche. With a stacked cast of Julianne Moore and Mia Wasikowska (both doing the best of the cast with the material) basically wasted as the film goes nowhere and does nothing. The first half is surreal and strange enough to reach the gaudy lows of the Counselor (but purposefully), but the second half can't find anywhere to go and devolves into slapstick-level silliness that it is impossible to tell if that's the point (Cronenberg isn't David Lynch, after all). Suspiciously low budget past the point of assuming it's to make Hollywood look fake. Nothing at the core as a theme is different from nothing at the core of your film.

Joan R (ag) wrote: Just watched it last night on on-demand Indie hits. Great to see Al Pacino in great form. Compelling enough to watch again to enjoy the comment on acting, dynamics of aging and contemporary gender dynamics. If you love watching an aging actor at his best, watch this.
