Rob S (au) wrote: People not familiar w/ Ozu's family dramas may find this one hard to love. But anyone who can enjoy a serene capturing of a life, in nearly all still frames, will love this one. Hsiao-hsien is a god of manipulation.

Jason D (kr) wrote: Night of the Living Dorks is another wonderful entry in the zomedy hybrid of films incorporating the living dead with humor. It's about 3 losers who get bullied by their school class who, one night, attempt a satanic ritual that fails only to find out the wrong spell was used when they all die in a car crash and become zombies. Now, they are trying to keep calm with their new found coolness as well as their insatiable lust for human flesh. Lots of partying, castrating, and flesh eating ensues. This quaint, little German film manages to pack a lot of humor and fun. I loved it. expected, it's getting the bastard Americanized remake treatment. I'm sure we'll see how that will turn out soon.

This is a film that will stay with you for a LONG time.A must-see.

Nathan H (ca) wrote: This movie is absolutely carried by it's fantastic premise and the brilliance that is Samuel L. Jackson. The movie really hits it stride in the middle section when the two characters are going back and forth at each other. The only problem is that the film really slows down toward the end as they begin to wax philosophical. Now, of course, any ride like this has to come in for a landing, but they certainly took a pretentous (and somewhat boring) route. In the end, though, most will be satisfied with where the characters end up.

SMALL TOWN. MODERATE VIOLENCE.This is about to go off. I mean I'm sitting throughout this film laughing and I'm like why is that then I remember it's a freaking part of the cornetto trilogy. With a unique spin on the sub-genre of buddy cop films(which I haven't watched a lot of). It's so much fun you'll need some ice cream. The film revolves around Nicholas Angel(Simon Pegg) who is a big city cop who can't be stopped-but he's making everyone else on the force look bad. When he is reassigned to a small quite town called Sanford,he struggles with his new seemingly idyllic world and his bumbling partner(Nick Frost). Their dull existence is interrupted by several grisly and suspicious accidents, and the crime-fighting duo turn up the heat and hand out high-octane,car-crashing,gun-fighting,big city justice.I gotta admit it felt kind of slow but when the murders started and the jokes, fences and ice cream kept coming I kept laughing and putting a smile on my face. This would actually make sense, what the murders do in this film, that could happen it brings a situation you would probably see this happen in a small town or village where everyone knew each other.Simon Pegg and Nick Frost come packing with the same hilarious chemistry they had in Shaun of the dead, when there together on screen your going to die of laughter. This satire of american action movie is one of the greatest films conceived by man, even if it's only issue I feel is that it does move pretty slow. It's fast with it's action and clever so I'm giving Hot Fuzz a four and a half out of five.

Grant S (br) wrote: Very disappointing. I liked the Quentin Tarantino contribution to the Grindhouse pair of movies, "Death Proof". I have always been more of a Tarantino fan than Robert Rodriguez, but thought "Sin City" was brilliant and expected at least something entertaining for "Planet Terror". No, it is incredibly lame. Plot is full of holes, action sequences are incredibly contrived, acting is wooden.I realise that this was a homage to the Z-grade cheap horror Grindhouse movies of the 70s, but Rodriguez didn't have to be so faithful to the genre and make a crap movie.
