Jonathan C (fr) wrote: Well produced, well-acted, and the definition of Oscar-bait. Forrest Whittaker does well, but is barely understandable. Oprah Winfrey continues to prove she needs to act more. And the odd casting choices for Presidents are mostly done so you'll pay attention to them rather than for authenticity. A good movie that tries too hard to be great.

The plot doesn't matter, nor does much else. I was simply in the mood for this kind of cinematic fast food. The CGI Cerberus doesn't look great, in fact he looks pretty poor but is still somehow effective. Perhaps this is because he serves his purpose in eating people and he didn't look so bad that I was laughing. I got rather wrapped up in the whole plot despite the absurdity of it. I would gladly watch it again despite it's lack of quality.

Mike C (it) wrote: It's supposed to be shocking. Not sure why I even netflixed it. Turns out to be boring in many regards. At times the narration or behavior caught on tape is laugh-out-loud funny. Other times it's just animal cruelty (though often culturally-based and not just completely pointless cruelty). I fast-forwarded through a lot of the movie, especially scenes that did or could involve animals. I guess I'll never understand the need to film some of these things, or in this film's case, why some of this stuff could have been considered shocking when it's really quite boring.

Jennifer M (gb) wrote: My favorite Gene Kelly movie of all time. It's just fun to watch, and Gene gives a swoon-worthy performance. (And clearly, Mr. Travis Johns doesn't like musicals. If that's so, maybe he shouldn't watch them? Just a suggestion.) If you DO like musicals, though, you'll LOVE this one.
