Gareth N (de) wrote: a great one scene drama. played out in a US diner the president is forced to chose between doing what he believes to be right and the death of thousands of US citizens. What did he chose? Watch it and see!A cast I'd not really seen before but I was very impressed. I was so gripped by the story and developments I didn't notice the acting so it must have been good. Worth seeking out!!!
Matthew C (jp) wrote: I love Mamet and was essentially dissapointed with this performance. Dustin Hoffman plays an almost spot on teach, but that is the only redeeming part of this film. The stakes were nowhere near high enough for either Donny or Bobby, and as a result the movie doesn't give a satisfying climax. We wonder where on earth it came from, switch of the TV and go eat a bombpop. It just doesn't get to the core of the peice despite Hoffman's best efforts. Also, I find it funny that Teach, perhaps the most dramatically inconsequential member of the plot of the play is the largest head on the cover of the box. Shows what Hollywood cares about: names.

The name of the original book:"the gods hate Kansas." sounds fun, but no intentional humour here. Ridiculous scifi romp made with a stiff upper lip.
