Jairo A (fr) wrote: The concept in Hard Candy was good, the acting was good, but the plot is weak and the ending is what ruins most of the movie for me. The biggest problem I have with the film is that it becomes 80% torture & 20% everything else (which is not enough). The dude has several chances to overpower this tiny little girl/lady and he doesn't? It looked as though she would barely make it to 90 lbs and that's with soaking wet clothes! Really? Come on! There's also a surgery and it seemed he was under more pain before the surgery than during the surgery...what? How the hell is that possible given what type of procedure it is? Also, the asian neighbor...why was she even in the movie? She clearly heard noises and saw someone on the roof and she just let that go? And the ending? That's what really ruins it for me (and why I won't rate it at least 3/5 or 6/10). The first 30 minutes are good and then it went downhill for me. If you're in the mood to just watch a torture movie with little substance after that, then go ahead. Very average movie 2.5/5 OR 5/10
Jeff B (fr) wrote: Pretty (unintentionally) hilarious slasher film from 1983 starring some people I don't know and a very young Bill Paxton giving a very over the top performance. It's weird, but even though I watched it just a few days ago, I can't recall the main plot. I believe a girl is trying to figure out what really happed to her dad who died recently in their swimming pool. So of course, several other deaths happen, caused by someone wearing white makup and dressed all in black with a black cape. I can't recall any particularly memorable deaths, though the ending is pretty hilarious with some pretty random moments including the killer conducting an orchestra of a bunch of dead people. There are better, cheesier 80s slasher films out there.

William C (au) wrote: Grade:High 7/10Raising Arizona is a funny film written by a duo that make movies as ifthere priceless pieces of art, although maybe not there best RaisongArizona still makes a good piece of film and a famous one of that aswell. I personally found it good and in this review I shall tell youwhy I thought it was firmly good and the reasons also. The story is quirky and can be funny, not really the most funny thingever but it can make you smile and laugh occasionally and with such acrazy story revolving around a crazy baby, it starts to be a good film.I felt the comedy does lack slightly in the sense of big chuckles butthe film is more of a good crime movie too with well I won't ruin itbut two incidents of crime which make the story thrilling as well asquite funny.Nicolas Cage in this is possibly his best acting role, a string of badperformances from the man seem to vanish in this where he actuallyseems to fit in with the crazy going's on and plot. I particularlyenjoyed John Goodman who as Cage's best friend is humorous but kind ofstrangely not nice even if he speaks in his familiar voice of Goodmanand seems near kind hearted. Cage really is the main show and for goodreason with this strange and hard to understand role. The Coen brothers direct and write this and as I said before it isnowhere near some of there masterpieces but nonetheless is entertainingand proves to be a fun adventure in all truth. I love the soundtrack tothis and the vast vast setting of the desert which serve the film withan even weirder premise with the couple living basically in the middleof nowhere, apart from occasionally coming across shops. It isn't that that funny and is why I put it here in the criticismparagraph because the movie I felt lacked the jokes it promised me andshould have said it was slightly more serious as a film. Of coursethere are funny bits but another criticism is the acting which is goodyes but some of the supporting are average but that is all really, thefilm Is hard for me to fully criticise but I don't think it is anywherenear being great.I think those who enjoy fast comedy and a sweet couple in the middlewill enjoy this as it I believe it can be fully enjoyed and quite abit. The story holds up and so I can't see why someone wouldn't enjoyit so see for yourself how you find it when you see it. Finally somewill like the quirky parts I was talking about as it makes for aninteresting plot and some kind of strange things happen to the maincast.Overall a low 7/10 from me meaning it is firmly good, people will enjoy thismuch more I Guarantee but it all depends on that persons comedypreferences In truth. Go watch and see yet another Coen's production, don't expect as much of it as some of there other works but it can bevery much appreciated and even a little skillful at times.

Danny M (ag) wrote: The best Afghanistan war movie so far. The makers of this movie demonstrate and intimacy and understanding of the Afghanistan conflict superior to the efforts of others to date. They make surgical use of this knowledge in educating their viewers. I can't help but feel this movie would have scored higher on the Tomatometer if the flags draped over the coffins at the end were the Red, White and Blue of the good old USA instead of the less fashionable Canadian Maple. Do yourself a favour and watch this movie.
Jeff B (kr) wrote: I really didn't know much about this film, or rather, for some reason I thought the film was about a whole different culture/time period. Well, it's certainly very well made, the cinematography excellent and great direction from Polanski, but I felt it was overlong and some parts felt a bit out of place. I was a bit confused how Tess got work at that farm where Angel was at, it sort of jumped right into it. That's one of the few minor things, still, it's a very different film from Polanski and a nice addition to his filmography.
