Jeannette G (es) wrote: This movie was slow version of Crash, except that Crash is good and this one is not. It's about different people with gambling problems and how they all end up at the end. So what? I don't care for this movie. It took me forever to watch. There was no point. Plus Kim Basinger was shaking like if she was a drug addict through the whole movie.
Fae E (mx) wrote: as a tgirl i felt right at home with this movie. btw Fernanda is a she...!! not a he and she is not maneuvered into prostitution. and Karen does not think she is innocent; for goodness sake. Fernanda likes prostitution.. i guess as a critc of a film that a good critic would refrain from inserting stuff that would show moralistic leanings or outright ignorance? or is that part of being a critic.

Pretty creepy, cool music (some of it resembles madman), & pretty cool deaths. I wish the credits instead of playing that song, kept the horror music going but whatevers.

Eventually, he falls in love with her and helps her look for a female junkie whose life is under threat. Neil Jordan's idisosyncratic thriller, which feels a lot like a modern noir, once again takes us through the London underground of sexual perversion and prostitution, yet has an unlikely sweet inner core, coveyed by the Nat King Cole song which opens up the film. The elelent of the central odd couple, with Bob Hoskin's great performance, falling for the charms of the popular call girl with an imposing presence is very intriguing.
Jaret M (us) wrote: Entertaining and compelling, Spielberg's first major motion picture is a glimpse into what this exciting filmmaker's specialty would become...treating the lives of everyday people with a grand and massive scope. Goldie Hawn peaked early with her believable and affecting performance. Though the story and characters are compelling enough, the film never really moves past being just an enjoyable and engaging couple of hours; which is more than most films will give you.
Gracija P (jp) wrote: The best cast from the world at that time, actually wanted to act in this movie. And i think that it's a shame that this movie was only nominated for an Academy award.Fuck the cold war, this movie is respected as much as the Casablanca.....
