(fr) wrote: Miss representation started off well with a true story, but then it suddenly became political and went straight down hill. Although the film has a nice message, it was biased, manipulative, ignorant and inconsiderate. Just by interviewing people with no real qualifications and throwing clearly biased stats will not make the educated viewers more sympathetic towards the real issue. Why is the film only focusing on Hollywood? There are more than just Hollywood and California in this world please. The film really needed a direction, it wasn't going anywhere and keeps circling around the same themes. The editing was probably the worst part of the film, even a 3 year old can do a better job than the editor of the film. It is informative and all that but trust no liberal films.

Kutcher does well enough in the movie to be believable, but without any direction or proper narrative, a struggling voice over, and a weak attempt of irony and critique of the LA lifestyle, the movie struggles to gain momentum or substance. It is a fluff piece; aesthetically pleasant to watch, but with minimal stimulation in most fields.

It's definitely not something that requires much if any thought, but it's near the top of that category in my mind. The comedy is smart and quick, the production values are high, and the plot is just ridiculous enough to be good escapist entertainment.
(ca) wrote: A nice little thriller. Good, small cast and solid direction make up for the occasional story problem. I also tend to like films shot in winter, and this one was shot in a Canadian one, so it is quality.
(de) wrote: In typical Whoopi Goldberg movie fashion, her likability and crazy wardrobe carry the plot through an interesting Act 1, slow Act 2 and rushed, action-packed and forgettable Act 3. This is among the class of films that would today be ruined by the Internet, because she could've just Googled the lyrics to Jumpin' Jack Flash instead of staying up half the night trying to understand Mick Jagger.
