Harrison R (br) wrote: Take the low quality of humor in kids' movies, add in a bunch of swearing, and you have a movie with no imaginable market, despite the originality of the premise and the thought-provoking subtext. If this is popular, blame weed.

How can you not appreciate a Bird of Prey that can attack while cloaked? Perhaps they saturated quicker than I have. Been six straight Thursdays of Star Trek. I'm not even breathing hard yet. Enjoy.

Stefan N (kr) wrote: Francois Truffaut's "Le Dernier Metro" is a superb accomplishment on explaining the importance of art and criticizing the people who take it too seriously. The film takes place in the middle of the Second World War in France where a successful theater company is trying to produce its next big hit without the presence of the owner, Lucas Steiner. He is said to have left France, but he is clearly hiding in the basement leaving his wife in charge. The story is the very least predictable without the use of plot twists. The actors are all subtle and I especially love Depardieu's performance which is astonishingly convincing. Deneuve is equally as great which proves that you can act well without any need to cry hysterically. I also love how the entire film feels like a play from the very subtle performances to the very still camerawork to the simply sweet story to the setting. The movie tells us that art is important- it entertains people in the toughest times. Nevertheless, it should never be taken more seriously than reality which creates a distance between the Steiners. My only problem with the film is that the war is sugar-coated which on the other hand makes the movie feel more fresh. "Le Dernier Metro" is a highly enjoyable film with spot-on performances and a solid script boosted by Truffaut's steady direction.

Shantell P (ag) wrote: Ridiculous plot, but probably one of the prettiest sexploitation flicks from the early 70s. The director wanted to make a film featuring one dwarf and many beautiful women. He succeeded.

Ed Q (de) wrote: A hypnotic and clinically detached observational documentary that rightfully portrays industrial food production as a rather horrifying business.

Shantel D (kr) wrote: Pretty pathetic followup. The first one was interesting, and pretty well done with what you can tell was a small budget.... this one was not.
