Jon R (de) wrote: The film "Cinderella Man" makes the infamous list of MY TOP 20 FILMS OF ALL TIME with ease! It's both Ron Howard's (Apollo 13) and Russell Crowe's (Gladiator) greatest film throughout their extremely impressing and illustrious careers. A genuine masterpiece that will emotionally bring you to your knees and to your feet. I can say with the utmost confidence that "Cinderella Man" is arguably the greatest film in the history of the professional sports genre and without argument it's the GREATEST boxing film of all time. Even with this sport epic packing harder punches than the legendary boxing film "Raging Bull", that surprisingly is not the main attraction. Stealing the show is the more than life story and the roller coaster ride of affection that is endured while watching this tremendously fact written journey of New Jersey boxer James Braddock, that takes this gripping boxing epic home. A film critic from TIME OUT magazine said it best when he stated that "The affection for Braddock and his story can be felt in every frame and heard in every word." It's Flawless, breathtaking, mesmerizing, inspiring and most importantly TRUE. The entire cast brings their A game and shine throughout the film. Russell Crowe's magnetic and visceral portrayal of James Braddock is still without a doubt one of the greatest acting performances of all time.

John M (kr) wrote: Of all the nuclear disaster films I have seen (The Day After, Threads, etc.), this film is the most harrowing and deeply jarring. It just goes to show that all the special effects in the world (i.e. CGI mushroom clouds, people vaporizing, elaborate makeup) pale in comparison to raw human emotion. Every loss in Testament felt personal. Jane Alexander gave a heartfelt and personal performance. Easily one of my favorite films of all time.

Jean G (br) wrote: This is an emotionally-rich drama by Japanese director Yasujiro Ozu about a theatre troupe that comes to a seaside town in post-WWII Japan. Some of the troupe have a history in this town however, and things threaten to come up to the surface and history to repeat itself. Good people can do bad things, and bad things can lead to good things too.

Ian R (it) wrote: An okay movie that is made by its ending. The performances are all fine, but it can move at a plodding pace at times.

William W (ag) wrote: I love Boris Karloff so much in this 5-pack of early films he made that it doesn't bother me that he plays an Oriental detective. He threw himself, vitally, into every role he portrayed, and that's why he's so beloved today.

Colton D (ru) wrote: King Kong is a loyal, visually stunning remake that has a great cast, but unfortunately is too glamorous, corny and long to be as great as it could have been.

Kevin R (fr) wrote: Boris Karloff might pop up any minute.Robert Manning's family owns a large estate in the south and his brother, Peter, goes to visit it one day and turns up missing. Robert heads to the house to find his brother and notices strange behavior by the local youth. He meets two eerie old men that tells him the tale of the city's strange path and a witch who was burned alive there. Today is the anniversary of her death and strange things seem to happen around this time of year..."No excitement. I see naked girls running through the bushes every night of my life."Vernon Sewell, director of The Blood Beast Terror, Terror Ship, Ghost Ship, The Silver Fleet, House of Mystery, and Wrong Number, delivers Curse of the Crimson Altar. The storyline for this picture is fairly predictable and doesn't contain too many horror scenes or eerie elements. The cast is solid and does a great job and includes Christopher Lee, Boris Karloff, Mark Eden, Barbara Steele, and Michael Gough. "The devil is not exactly noted for his sense of humor, and he never sleeps."I am a huge Karloff fan and found this movie on Netflix and gave it the old college didn't work out. This movie is well paced and had some potential, but there really were not any scary or intense scenes. This is just a bad 'B' horror film that really isn't worth your time, other than to see Lee and Karloff in a movie together."No painting below the belt."Grade: D+/C-
