Rembrandt's J'Accuse

J'accuse is an 'essay-istic' documentary in which Greenaway's fierce criticism of today's visual illiteracy is argued by means of a forensic search of Rembrandt's Nightwatch. Greenaway explains the background, the context, the conspiracy, the murder and the motives of all its 34 painted characters who have conspired to kill for their combined self-advantage. Greenaway leads us through Rembrandt's paintings into 17th century Amsterdam. He paints a world that is democratic in principle, but is almost entirely ruled by twelve families. The notion exists of these regents as charitable and compassionate beings. However, reality was different.

Rembrandt's J'Accuse torrent reviews

Moya W (us) wrote: Having watched the trailer I'd really looked forward to seeing this movie but it wasn't quite as good as I'd expected. It's the type of movie that I'd usually enjoy but the soundtrack wasn't as good as I'd hoped for and seeing as a lot of the movie is told in lyrics you don't always find out as much about the characters as you'd want to. Although, it definitely gets bonus points for its unpredictability.

Edward H (au) wrote: This movie was pretty hardcore right out the gate! Cheaply made cos the picture was all blurry when the actors moved around.Nasty...Still not bad for a low budget though.

Mark T (it) wrote: Not too bad but nothing to write home about

Matt G (ca) wrote: I'm pretty sure the concept of actual "dead silence" is scarier than the movie "Dead Silence". Feels like a movie middle school kids watch at a sleepover. Hokey, old-fashioned (in a bad way), and abounding in horror clichs.

Sam B (jp) wrote: A nice feel-good story, plus it's about soccer!

Juliana T (it) wrote: Don't know why everyone is ragging on this movie so hard- some of the best written female dialogue for a mainstream movie I've seen in a long time. Considering the other movies out there about women, and the fact that a woman hasn't gotten in the water as a lead in a surf movie since Gidget I think this deserves more positive reviews.

Garett L (nl) wrote: Hilarious. Drew Barrymore and Ben Stiller are great together. Dealing with an annoying old tenant that begins to make there life a living hell. Great flick.

Jose Luis M (de) wrote: Podria ser fcilmente una historia de Stephen King, aterradora y fantstica, se asemeja en algunas tomas a Zodiac.

Roland P (gb) wrote: Ah, the grief. No sadder movie ever made! Still: you'll love it

Rachael S (fr) wrote: John Inman, Mollie Sugden, Frank Thornton, Wendy Richard. Grace Brothers closes for remodeling and the staff go on vacation together.

Amani A (gb) wrote: Enjoyed it! Ustinov, Maggie Smith and Karl Malden are hilarious. It was funny to watch the early computer age. The scheme reminded me of the Societe Generale $7 billion fraud by a trader who orchestrated bogus transactions. BTW, I met Sir Peter in the 1994 in Copenhagen. It was in the lift, when I said : "I loved your performance in Cleopatra". He answered: "Spartacus, you mean?" (of course, silly me. It was Spartacus). Karl Malden passed away only a few days ago.

Carlos M (fr) wrote: A decent cult action movie full of great stunts and car crashes that make the best of a very low budget, even though the story takes a bit too long to speed up, making the entire beginning a little dragged and reaching its narrative core with only fifteen minutes left to end.

Dee N (de) wrote: I loved this movie and the music was appropriate.
