Remington and the Curse of the Zombadings

Remington and the Curse of the Zombadings

Remington lives in a small provincial town. He’s a typical macho. During the day he works his ass off and at night he gets drunk to blow off steam. As a child Remington mercilessly harassed his homosexual neighbor until the man put a curse on him. One day Remington would turn gay. And it seems like the curse is slowly but surely working its magic. Remington is being forced out of a closet he never thought he’d be in. First his body language turns pink, then the way he talks and finally his sexual preference. Poor Remington finds himself entangled in a confusing threesome with his best friend and girlfriend. In the meantime his mother, a police officer, tries to find the perpetrator of a series of murders in the city’s gay and transsexual community. And the victims do not intend to remain under ground. They’re coming out of their coffins, Gloria Gaynor style !

Richard S (mx) wrote: A touching and moving tribute by Leonard Nimoy's son, not just to the character of Spock but to his father, to the history of the Star Trek franchise and to the actor behind Spock who did so much more before he accepted the role that defined him. Features interviews with family, friends and the Star Trek cast from the past and present. It was especially great to see Leonard Nimoy's earlier work on television, film and stage, many of which I was previously unaware. A beautiful tribute from son to father.

Aslyn E (de) wrote: This rating is based on the fact I was forced to watch this with constant distractions (fatherhood) but I was quite impressed with the concept. It's an entertaining indie film about a guy who thinks that some pills have given him super powers. Michael Rapaport does a great job making you feel sympathetic towards his misguided sense of magical abilities. The storyline involving shady medical suits is also pretty good and at only 82 minutes it hardly out stays it's welcome. If I watched this again with full attention I could see this getting a higher mark.

Tommy H (ag) wrote: First time I watched the movie I had mixed feelings about it, mostly because of the unusual acting. Both Max and Jenny are very intense and passionate characters, but at the same time they seem indifferent and almost bored. They don't open up very much. Most scenes they're just looking at each other and having small talk. But I've come to appreciate the film for what it is. I see them as two people who both have mental issues in some way and they're trying to connect with each other but they don't know how. Jenny wants to show Max that she loves him, but she's the Tomboy type of girl and doesn't express her feelings much. This is highlighted most in the sex scene, which is intimate but at the same time very withdrawn and distant. Max at times reminded me of Hoffman's performance in Rain Man. Very monotone and anxious, but also very calm. Just about everything in this movie represents two extremes. It's a very laid back love story mixed with glorifying a criminal lifestyle. The movie is more authentic because it doesn't know what it wants to be. It's definitely an oddity in Hoffman's filmography. And I have to say the scene when he handcuffs buddy to the fence on the freeway was the funniest thing I've seen in a while. He definitely had it coming and it was glorious.

There is no doubt our world is getting closer to what Gattaca is presenting and there is a lot we can learn from it as it helps us visualize the consequences of such modern progress.
