Bryan C (es) wrote: This (mostly) true story of Barack and Michelle Obama's first date might be one of the best romantic "date movies" I have seen in years. It's a must-see if you are a fan of the Obamas. And even if you are not, I think you would be hard-pressed to watch this movie and not come away with a greater understanding of, and respect for, the couple.Grade: A

Pavan S (it) wrote: Storyline: After Successful Don: The Chase Begins Again (2006), Which itself an remake of an Amitabh's classic with same name. Farhan Akhtar and Sharukh team again for the sequel of this venture and continue the story forward. Don established his complete domination in Underworld in Asia. Now he moves ahead and decides to take over the European underworld. To execute this plan Don (SRK) needs Vardhan (Boman Irani) who is the Kuala Lumpur Jail. To escape Vardhan, Don surrenders himself before the Detectives Malik (Boman Irani) and Roma (Priyanka Chopra) in Kuala Lumpur. Will Vardhan Believe the DON? Will Don execute the plan? will he lead the European underworld? is the rest of the storyline. Pleasure Performances: Don 2 takes place five years after the Don: The chase begins again. Even then Sharukh continues his hunky-dory form with Don character. Don one-liners are one the biggest assets of this franchise and even this version has some puckish dialogues. But Sharukh's character was not fully nourished, that?s what makes a lot of difference between the both the ventures. Even then Sharukh gives his best with the attitude and charismatic facial expressions. Priyanka chopra an Interpol detective didn?t have the scope what she had in DON, but she performed well in the climax. Lara Dutta has an limited character, she adds much required glamour quotient to the movie. Boman given his best to the Vardhan character, it was tailor made character for him. Hrithik Roshan's cameo was fine. He fits in well. Aly Khan, Nawab Khan, Kunal Kapoor were supportive in their roles. Technical Treasure: Farhan Akhtar who given his entry with cult movie Dil Chahta Hai, After then he was never close to his entry effort and all other his directed movies fared second-rate. Though his production and performances given some memorable movies like Rock On, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. After decent Don (2006), Farhan Akhtar hyped Don 2 with good promotions and trailers. Farhan showed his capabilities with Stylish taking. But he failed to narrate it in Entertaining and Engaging way. Lyrics by Javed Saab were nice. Music and Background Music by Shanker Eshaan Loy was the biggest drawback. None of the songs were at least close to their songs in Don (2006). Vaibhavi Merchant didn?t have the scope to give her impact through the Songs Choreography. Jason West's (Rock On Fame) cinematography was fantastic. Editing by Anand Subaya could have been crispier. Fights were gracious crafted well. Production values were howling. Movie released in both in 3D and 2D versions. I would rather prefer 2D version than the 3D, as its not as clear and effective as it should be in 3 Dimensional. Survi Verdict: Don 2 starts off with decent with stylish introductions and dialogues. but drags a lot at pre-Interval and post-intermission. But later gains a constant momentum till the climax. Some scenes from the movie recall us of scenes from Hollywood flicks like ocean eleven, Mission impossible and Die Hard. Positives of Don 2 are Stylish taking, Performances, Cinematography and Dialogues. On the flipside its Songs, Humor, Dragging Climax, Slow Narration in the first half. On the whole, Don 2 is average flick that can be watched once for sharukh khan and Stylish direction. Survi Review: 2.5/10
Hannah M (es) wrote: When I started this, I had horrible flashbacks to last month's viewing of Loving Annabelle, which was a very similar set-up: clearly inappropriate relationships between a teacher and a new student at an all-female boarding school. However, this movie actually had a *story* to it, and it ends up going in a very disturbing, but interesting, direction. The character of the teacher becomes more and more fascinating as she is revealed, and I found myself getting caught up in the story. Although the ending left me a little hazy about who exactly I was supposed to view as the central character of the story, I thought it was a pretty entertaining little thriller.
Jack P (es) wrote: Will Ferrell voicing a big blue alien who causes havoc, sold. Megamind is a family cgi film spoofing the superhero genre with a twist, the main character is the villain. A funny film with Ferrell once again providing hilarity. With many references to superheroes and films, megamind is full of pop culture references to keep the adults amused as well as the kids. A great film from dreamworks.

Simon P (br) wrote: The key thing for a horror movie is to make the titular creatures scary. Mission failed. I mean, come on - they're slugs! However, it's one of those cult B-movies that is incredibly enjoyable to watch. Whether it's by design or otherwise (I'm assuming the latter), it's chock full of terrible acting, dodgy 80s hairstyles and equally iffy special effects. Bad dubbing, ludicrous plotting and two lead actors that look vaguely alike is the order of the day. You'd also think people would notice that their kitchen has been overrun by (killer) slugs, but apparently all the characters in this film need somebody else to burst in and point it out. Great fun.

On a side note - i guess this isn't the uncut version...The Big Gundown doesn't have a proper dvd release so it would be nice to track the complete version down. Recommended.

sipke d (fr) wrote: Brian Singer, the man who gave us the X-men movies and the Usual Suspects, now gives us a new take on a classic fairy tale, we all have been dying to see. Well....not really. Don't get me wrong I am really looking forward to the new Disney Beauty and the Beast remake, but I don't sincerely care about this tale. As I expected, this movie didn"t spin the wheel for me. The characters are mweh, the story is bad and the effects are very underwhelming. The main character is played well by Nicolas Hoult. However his character isn't anything new. He is just your ordinary farmer, who hooks up with the princess, and who later becomes the hero that saves the day. Ewan McGregor also portays the knight really well. This is in my opinion the only real character of the movie. His acting makes his character more interesting, but he is also just the good guy. Furthermore Ian McShane is pretty solid as the king, but for the most part the rest of the cast is just not that memorable. The story also doesn't draw your attention. But of course the giants will still save the movie....No they don't.. They are all just dumb trolls you can see in any saturndaymorning cartoon on CN. Every piece of dialogue they deliver, sounds like my drunk uncle. The CGI used on the giants is not very good too. It is not awfull, but also not making you believe a real giant is actually standing right in front of you. There simply isn't that much special to this movie. If you want to see it go ahead, but it will feel like you have watched this movie a hundred times before (not in a good way).
