(kr) wrote: The really big problem with this movie is not the clichs or the bad acting, but the HORRIBLE camera work! The camera is all over the place - up, down, left, right, shaking, zooming, zoom in, zoom out...And this dosen't last for a little while - it lasts through-out the WHOLE movie!I was honestly feeling very motion sick while I watched this. Also the camera work made the acting even worse, because it was hard to focus on who was who because the camera could show the characters 10-15 meters away and from the side.As for the movie itself - very unrealistic and it wasn't a very good movie overall. Volcano is better thanks to it's better camera work and effects. There aren't many effects in this movie, on the cover (and the title) you get the idea that a volcano is in a city, but it's actually some lava trapped in some kind of pipe that randomly gets blown out of the pipe burning the bad guys.

(de) wrote: Hot little indie flick, the Hollywood ending was disappointing, but Jamie Bell does a great job as an American teenage and for a movie made on the cheap and in a hurry, the movie is well worth your time.

Jason delivers a must-see showdown between two of horror's most beloved, iconic villains that anchors its gory delights with a solidly written story, a cast who contribute game performances and a personalized retelling of its subjects' origins.

(it) wrote: I had never watched this movie completely, as I heard only poor things about it. So I finally decided to watch it, and try to keep an open mind about it. Well, I can see what everyone was talking about, this movie isn't very good. A few of the problems I had: Spock had a brother? Who knew? We never hear about him ever again. The humour...it just doesn't work. Take the scene where Scotty breaks the others out of the brig, and bumps his head on a ceiling strut..he knocks himself out. I don't know, it just wasn't as funny as let's say, the Voyage Home. I understand this movie almost killed the franchise, it's not hard to see why. Pass if you can...
(kr) wrote: Rivaling Gone with the Wind as one of the most picturesque, epic love stories ever, this one is set in Hong Kong, after WWII. Unlike GWTW, this one ends tragic, though of course, that is all I will say. Starring William Holden, who plays a war reporter, and Jennifer Jones, who plays a Eurasian doctor from China who encounters prejudice in Hong Kong, this is a sweeping tale of love and loss, happiness and sadness. With the Oscar-winning song playing in the background constantly, this film is sure to make any romantic satisfied.

(ag) wrote: Big Eyes is a good drama about a woman who's husband takes credit for her amazing paintings. I had heard of this movie and had happened to stumble on it at the video store. This isn't like a typical Tim Burton movie with the creepy element to it. Like most of his movies, it's really good. Big Eyes has a lot of drama, like most dramas, but it has so much that goes on. Taking place of a period of ten years, you can expect there will be a lot of stuff going. I don't like spoiling or talking about what happens in the movie in my reviews so I will leave you there. Go to the theater and get a ticket.

(it) wrote: the first 20 mins was amazing - up until sean penn arrives and the whole film takes a turn both in terms of script and directing - its almost like 2 compleatly different films, with ethe first part being dark gritty and edgy, while the second part is anything but.
(jp) wrote: A drama that debates the use of torture when interrogating a known terrorist. The impressive cast does its best, but it remains uninvolving for the most part. The ending, though, is a mess. (Side note: Michael Sheen looks like Curtis "Booger" Armstrong in this film.)
