That's what's great about childhood/coming of age movies, the common universality from many different backgrounds and experiences. Captures a great sense of how you think/feel in your youth. Man, I'm starting to feel old now, but thanks to films like this and Boyhood, I'm able to travel backwards in time a few hours at a time.

Efforts by local community groups to scale back the project, which involved a basketball arena for the Nets and 16 skyscrapers that would have towered over the adjacent four and five story residential buildings, were repeatedly ignored. While the developed did gain control of the land, the current recession appears to have torpedoed the project as originally envisioned. Promises of world class architecture, numerous jobs for local residents, affordable housing and public spaces are no longer mentioned. Nonetheless, the generous tax breaks awarded to the developer have not been reduced. Anyone concerned about the abuse of power and the misuse of eminent domaine should see this film.

(kr) wrote: I don't understand how this movie isn't rated much higher. It is absolutely hysterical. One of the better comedy scripts of the 90s. Dudley Moore is great and the ads he comes up with will make you laugh out loud. Once he goes to the funny farm the other patients are some of the most quotable characters I've seen. Outstanding writing and acting. Don't pay attention to the meter on this one.

(es) wrote: Enjoyable and silly, this movie has enough action star fantasy square offs to make any fan salivate. Jet Li vs Dolph Lundgren? Steve Austin vs. Stallone? etc etc. Deep. dark, and deliciously violent, the plot is hardly relevant, but everything violent is surprisingly satisfying.
