Ray D (jp) wrote: Bill Murray teams up with an elephant in this odd little variation on his stereotypical 'smarmy guy discovering the valuable things in life' story--about a motivational speaker who inherits an elephant from his dead father and has to haul it across the country to sell it for cash (long story, don't ask). Notable as well for a young Matthew McCounaghy, and an endearing portrayal of an elephant by Vera the Elephant--I found it watchable, but I'm a big fan of Bill Murray and elephants both. YMMV.

Sam B (gb) wrote: Good sports movie with a great cast and realistic 1919 setting that unfortunately suffers from too many moving pieces, convoluting what is otherwise a simplistic morality tale with true-story credibility.

Timothy J (kr) wrote: Set out to be a revenge film. It never gave you the opportunity to care for the people for whom the central character is out to avenge. Beyond that, it is just a run of the mill Gore flick.

Tommy H (us) wrote: I've seen Leslie Nielsen act like a funny jerk in other movies, but here you see him act like a real jerk, and wrestle a bear.

monsieur r (ag) wrote: Pure nonsense and an insult to a Victorian Holmes. Read this synopsis from RT itself and see if the use of Sherlock to solve WWII problems is a stretch. Any fool reviewer that would give this loathsome excuse for a Holmes story credibility is just fishing for compliments. "The secret weapon is a new bombsight which could hasten the outcome of World War II, and both the Allies and the Nazis are in a desperate race to secure it for themselves. Super sleuth Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) and his trusty assistant Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) are assigned to find the kidnapped scientist who developed the secret weapon, only to be foiled by Holmes' nemesis, the evil Professor Moriarty (Lionel Atwill). Based on the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story THE ADVENTURE OF THE DANCING MEN, this Holmes case transplants the Victorian sleuth into the realm of WWII espionage and is also the first of the films to introduce Dennis Hoey as Scotland Yard detective Inspector Lestrade."----- RT not my review. Folks, lets not be hoodwinked (fooled) into accepting this farce of a film to be anything but fanciful creativity. It is a preposterous a film. Not enjoyable unless you think Holmes lived into WWII. If you can accept the super loser premise, than it is ok to watch once.
