(kr) wrote: What drew me in were the questions the film provokes.Who is this strange woman we are following? Is she destitute or is she free?Is this film a pseudo-documentary or a radical re-imaging of Citizen Kane? The film never answers these questions & that's why it lingered with me

(mx) wrote: A message movie about a priest who provides direction to troubled boys without homes. Sentimental now. It seems unreal that this was a sort of snapshot of gang activity. It was probably cleaned up and hence why some think there were more "innocent" times. Mickey Rooney, who also appeared in Captains Courageous, is the boy that is the most difficult to reach. He runs away multiple times. Spencer Tracy gives another great performance without going to the extreme of mawkishness.

The characters are lovable as usual. This film is for all ages. No matter how old you are, the kid inside you can't resist this wonderful movie that again is filled with morals and life lessons. The best thing about it is the ending. The ending is heart-warming and emotional. Mike, Sully, and Boo are one of the biggest joys of my life and I will never get bored of them no matter how many times I watch the movie.Score: 9.8/10 (Amazing).
(kr) wrote: I can't review this film without using the words christmas and turkey...so there you go, done! This is one of those tragedies of a family film where neither the parents nor the children win! The story is basically that Santa (somehow - not particularly well-explained) ends up delivering xmas presents a day early! and if that's not enough, he falls off a roof and thereafter, suffers from amnesia, not even knowing who he is. Unfortunately the audience by this point probably don't care who he is! Instead of focusing on the supposed plot of using xmas traditions to revive santa's memory, the film decides to distract the audience (like a punch in the face) with repetitive, unoriginal and patronising moral statements about parents being too busy for christmas. The characters are so stereotypical and corny that no one (parent or child could relate to any of them on any level) and the film is completely devoid of any action, humour or warmth. Its a shame that, at a time when so few good christmas films are made, instead of some jolly festive relief, this film presents us with a mild, patronising tap on the wrist. Avoid
