(us) wrote: Clips along at the pace of a Chinese action film for a while, then the last 20-30 minutes are all delicious Finnish melancholy and ambiguity you have to be able to feel in your heart (not your mind) to understand. I'd be hard-pressed to actually consider this a martial arts film, because there's no real battle in it. The martial arts sequences are more metaphors for displays of strength or courtship.
(fr) wrote: If you even say that you like this movie, I will hunt you down. It is one of the most repulsive, disgusting, and just plain bad movies I have ever seen. This is not the way for Jenny McCarthy to get ahead in her film career. Carmen Electra has already destroyed her's. If you like movies where a woman slips in her period blood while in the grocery store, then this is the movie for you. For anybody else, stray as far away as possible. I wholly agree 100% with Roger Ebert: this is one of the worst films of 2005.
(it) wrote: The film handles a tough subject matter pretty well. Elizabeth Perkins stands out in the good cast. It's a little too talky for my taste and it tends to be a bit too pretentious as well.
(gb) wrote: Grease 2 is a blatant rehash of the first movie it's the same thing but with stupid/unlikeable main characters and blaring plot holes

(ag) wrote: The island adventure and a small boat ride is a combo of "Swiss Family Robinson" climbing aboard on "The African Queen." (Ironically, the two movies are currently neighbors in the Magic Kingdom).Cary Grant (from "North by Northwest") serves as a reluctant host who's only interested in fishing and alone time with drinking. His character Walter Eckland gets tricked by an old friend Commander Frank Houghton (Trevor Howard) to stay on an island to keep in an eye on Japanese pilots flying above. (So basically Eckland was tricked into serving for WWII with no such interest on doing so).The next-door island was the place where people had to stay in line, waiting for Grant's boat to show up. That's where Leslie Caron (from "Gigi" surprisingly) was as Frenchwoman Catherine Freneau with seven young schoolgirls under her care. The whole bundle was soon under Eckland's hold, making his situation more irritating when the personalities of the pair were different and he was soon stubbornly overpowered by Ms. Freneau with the help of her schoolgirls as her small, annoying young army. Now the old friends of Eckland and Houghton has their own wars to win. Except that the chemistry between Eckland and Freneau grows in a predictable fashion, at the same time gains more respect from the schoolgirls as the pair's hearts softens. So at that point with that typical fashion, the boat ride turned into a battle of the sexes, then into a love boat with humor and the hosts having their moments of performing nicely to us slow riders.
