Phil L (ca) wrote: This movie suffered from bad marketing. It was billed as the next Sin City. It isn't. Frank Miller does what he always does, find the heart of a Super Hero. For Batman that was the The Dark Knight Returns, for The Spirit that is slap stick comedy. Fans of the comics will realize this instantly. No that humor was intentional. Yes, the kitchen sink makes sense.
Richard L (jp) wrote: It is hard to believe that Liv TYLER actually plays in this movie. There are some decent parts but everything is so slow and unexplained that it kills the suspense instead of building it up. And the camera is always shaking -- this is really annoying.

Justin K (jp) wrote: ok. to sum it all up: this movie is your average adrenaline rush action movie full of great fight sequinces. however, story was poor and the film tended to drag. but I must say I was entertained by the movie and would not mind seeing it again.granted yes it did have slot of silly moments but I was entertained and did enjoy myself. All in all I will say it is a good movie to watch
Jason J (es) wrote: This movie chronicles the younger years of Britain's Madame Sin - Cynthia Payne! It's an audacious and somewhat surreal coming-of-age flick of a young girl who goes against convention of the behaviour of women for the time (the late 1940's and early 50's) all in a terribly strange and somewhat wrong-headed attempt to both garner love and acceptance from her emotionally-distanced father. The movie succeeds mostly on the charm of young Emily Lloyd portraying a character who can't decide if hers is a child's mind in an adult's body, or the other way around. Lloyd is hilarious in her role. Overall it's funny, poignant and and a great British movie. Recommended.
