Sand Serpents

Jason Gedrick and a small group of Marines are stranded in the remote Afghan desert. But it ain't the Taliban that's worrying them, it's these giant refugees from Tremors. In fact the big worms prove to be an ally of sorts by doing better against the Taliban than themselves but battling these enemies is something not covered in their training.

Maureen O'Hara is her usual fiery self, Tyrone dashing and a supporting cast (Thomas Mitchell, Laird Cregar) that is really too good for this kind of thing, See if you can keep track of how many times they say the word gibbet.

But am glad I did. It's a good love story and actually includes the art world which makes it even more fascinating in my opinioin.

Timothy M (ca) wrote: A touch disappointing, given the talent involved. Newman is terrific as always, though. The film itself is just too dry, and never really gets off the ground, which is a shame since the story is fairly intriguing and different. Dave Grusin's score almost kills the film outright though - it's just woeful. I'm surprised Pollack didn't really take to the material as well as he should have, but all in all the film feels like it's just 5 years or so too late. It certainly looks and sounds like something from the mid-70s.

Darrin C (ag) wrote: Not how things really happened if you know anything about Billy the Kid, but the movie relied on emotion, gun battles, and slight humor that worked fine for me. The main characters' personalities varied which made them their own and I felt were likeable. This pic had a solid plot with a satisfying ending.
