Lee M (es) wrote: The scrambled timeline seems like an effort to disguise a paucity of original ideas. It'll be interesting to see what Wingard can do when he actually gets hold of some.

Clare S (ag) wrote: It starts well and Blunt and Segal have great chemistry. However, you'll struggle to get a laugh after the first 10 minutes. It's extremely disappointing and surprisingly sexist.

Tim M (mx) wrote: Plenty of colorful characters and humor. Asano is great. It seems the movie was cut short though the ending isn't complete.

Peter H (it) wrote: Yu is a freaking BAD ASS! He is introduced to these villain characters, each having their own unique powers or abilities, and he just totally ROCKS them! Lots of blood and off the wall stunts. The Noah story got a little out there but was none the less a great supernatural addition to the story.

Carrie S (es) wrote: Great movie!!! Brilliant well developed story Joe Mazzello does a great job in this one especially since he's only 9! :)

Albert P (es) wrote: Wow.. this movie was horrible. It is a complete waste of time. Only good part is the beginning when the chicks are in swimsuits, after that turn it off.

Johnny T (mx) wrote: Nightcrawler is pulp with a purpose. A smart, engaged film powered by an altogether remarkable performance by Jake Gyllenhaal, it is melodrama grounded in a disturbing reality, an extreme scenario that is troubling because it cuts close to the bone. Mr. Gyllenhaal's startling portrayal is far from the only distinction in this impeccably crafted feature film. Mr. Gilroy's directorial debut connects its hero's tacit madness to the larger craziness of a broadcast medium that teaches vast numbers of viewers to live with a false sense of insecurity. Gyllenhaal is in almost every frame of writer-director Dan Gilroy's first feature, skinny and wide-eyed, running down a driveway with his camera or cutting across oncoming traffic in the Challenger. It's an intense performance, the flip side of Ryan Gosling's in "Drive," playing the angles and filling space with empty words instead of soulful silences. Nightcrawler flourishes as a searing indictment on unchecked mania, workplace malpractice, and the forces that maintain them. A thick film of sleaze coats every frame of Nightcrawler, a movie that takes a hard look at media culture and provides Jake Gyllenhaal a terrific opportunity to creep us all out. Restless, visually sleek, and powered by a lithe star performance from Jake Gyllenhaal, Nightcrawler offers dark, thought-provoking thrills.VERDICT: "High-Quality Stuff" - [Positive Reaction] This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theatre to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent. (Films that are rated 3.5 or 4 stars)

Michael S (mx) wrote: Wow. This movie I can almost guarantee will stay with you long after it ends. What I liked most about it was how objective it stayed to it's subject. We see a normal, and for the most part good person, make one incredible mistake that derails the life of himself and those closest to him. It's heart wrenching because it's a film in which you feel for both the victim and the attacker, because at heart this isn't something either side intended for. The main actor Jack Reynor gives a fantastic performance, and the script focuses much more heavily on emotions from acting than from actual words. Watch this one if you get the chance.
