Patrick C (ag) wrote: What this film lacked in style, it made up for in gritty reality. John Hurt is amazing as Father Christopher and the times when he is on the screen it is almost impossible to look away. Hugh Dancy, on the other hand, is pretty terrible. He shows all the real emotional depth of a cardboard cut out. His scenes where he is supposed to be feeling anger, horror, or indignation are far too telegraphed. This, coupled with a difficult subject, a low budget, and a challenging shooting environment wear on the story telling power. There were times in this film where I just couldn't keep interested.

This film covers many of those themes, DR Congo's more specific issues, and Lumumba's short prime ministership quite well, but it does not adequately explore his personal life or education in any significant detail.

Grayson S (jp) wrote: LITTLE CAESAR is a pretty good classic gangster film. Although Edward Robinson was too over-the-top in his performance as Rico, the plot was good and fast. Also, director Mervyn LeRoy had a few very good shots of his own, like the one where Rico is dressing in his suit, but we only see him in the reflection in the mirror. This film is pretty entertaining to crime film fans, but will probably bore anyone else.

I mean, I thought Tom Hanks hair in "The Da Vinci Code" was a real stand out.You know this movie is really boring when I'm more interested of talking about Travolta hair then anything that happens in this terrible film.
