(it) wrote: I enjoyed watching Apocalypto. It was down to earth and had a ferocity to it that kept the movie going. The film gave an interesting glimpse into what life might've really been like for the Mayans and Aztecs. It was very bloody and action packed, but Apocalypto is a solid, historically intriguing movie.

I knew that it was a controversial film, but I didn't realize how skillfully-made and well put together that it would actually be. I was actually hypnotized by it, and I think that it's all a matter of how it was put together. Filmmakers David Maysles, Albert Maysles, and Charlotte Zwerin set out to document the last ten days of The Rolling Stones' tour, but it ended with death and tragedy as a free concert at the Altamont Speedway in San Francisco turned violent. It's one of the best concert films ever made because there's something else going on besides just people playing music, which would have been entertaining enough, but this movie just nails it over the head. You can certainly see how Led Zeppelin were influence for their concert film later. It's a great film with great music and a stunning conclusion that will make you want to see it again.
