It's one of the best pieces I've seen all year with spectacular animation and a charming and sweet story that has the power to play with emotions without having saying anything.

Michaela K (ag) wrote: Funny and sad at the same time, this movie is not afraid to explore the dirty details of immigration. It is basically a look at immigration (to and from the Czech Republic, from the past and the present)from many different perspectives and with various sub-plots.
Kevin S (au) wrote: This action/comedic gem is about joe and terry who are notorious bank robbers that break out of prison and are on the run and out of money. They come up with a plan to put the bank managers on house arrest the night before they rob it and they soon become the notorious "sleepover bandits". They also run into an eccentric housewife named Kate who soon joins them after she thinks she is neglected by her husband. She can't decide which bandit she wants to be with and it puts their friendship in jeopardy. This movie is very funny. Both Bruce Willis and billy bob Thornton are hilarious and keep you amused and entertained through the whole movie. I agree with the New York post that it has great chemistry that between Willis and Thornton. Great one liners and brilliant direction from Barry levinson. This is a must see and a very fun and humorous movie with some decent action. Kudos to Barry levinson on this great movie.

Maxwell S (ca) wrote: Honestly, I connect with Linklater a lot, but I don't let that get in the way of what I believe makes a well-constructed/great film. Nor (with this film) do I let the fact that I am obsessed with Sonic Youth get in the way of that anyway, so obviously I'm going to like this film, just going into it. But, this film is actually quite well-made, seeing that everything they do, and everything that they are, makes perfect sense. But, each character stands their own view of reality, even if it contradicts another. It's very dark, very humorous, and perfectly disturbed. In the last 10 minutes, when the sun came up, it all washed over me on how intense and painful that whole night was. Kind of like "A Clockwork Orange" when Alex falls out of the window in slow motion, it was that intense moment of realization, that only a truly great film can pull off. Linklater has the style that defined a lot of films that came out in the 90's, but he was beyond that, while expressing his love for his hometown, and making all the points that he needs to. This isn't a masterpiece, but an idiot sure could never do this. A great film, no more, no less. 7.5/10.
Orlok W (us) wrote: This is one of those movies about a handful of soldiers lost in the desert who must find and fight their way home. But, if the plot is familiar, this is a pretty well executed example... Lost Patrol--Henry Fonda looks just like he appeared in 1940's 'The Grapes of Wrath'. Thomas Mitchell, as the old-time sergeant is a standout here. There is able support by Allyn Joslyn, Reginald Gardiner and others!!
