Eric W (ru) wrote: A wonderful mixture of monster movie mayhem and teenage slash and stalk fare. Beautifully atmospheric and genuinely creepy, this would make an excellent double bill with Paul Lynch's other 80's masterpiece, "Prom Night!"
Steve W (gb) wrote: Action movie heroes seem to have one movie where the hero must defeat villain in a small town setting. Jean Claude Van Damme has ??Nowhere to Run?? (1993), and Steven Seagal has ??Fire Down Below?? (1997). Not a lot of action in this one. It takes a good 30 minutes of build up to finally get going and the dialogue is truly awful. The villains are all rednecks or hillbillies and the movie gets very melodramatic and cheesy. Two badass moments, but I think all the Chuck Norris jokes make me expect more of his movies. Regardless of that, this early vehicle is not one of his better ones.
Morgan R (jp) wrote: Burt Lancaster, won the Best Actor Oscar for his role as Elmer Gantry. He was a force of nature in this film and I can't think of any contemporary actor who could best Burt in this part. He was in almost every seen with long lines of dialogue. "Gantry" also won Best Screenplay. The film was based on Sinclair Lewis's novel of the same name. I thought it was about 15 to 20 minutes too long. It seemed the director, Richard Brooks, couldn't figure out how to end the story. Jean Simmons, gets little recognition in this production, but she more than held her own as Sister Sharon Falconer to Lancaster's dynamic and conflicted Elmer Gantry.

Many funny encounters in this fish-out-of-water tale of a god just trying to make it in the big city. A lot of scuffles and feat of strength. Watch with the over-dub of Arnold's voice for maximum comedic effect. One of Arnold's top 5 films for sure!
David S (au) wrote: Some good visuals, but talk about a movie that tries too hard. The attempted artistry for this movie was way over the top and bored it down several notches. It was slow (again, the artistic failings of the movie), and the score almost ruined it completely. It had potential, if only done right.
