(ca) wrote: Classically bad early sci-fi movie. Futuristic scenes of alien world are wonderful. Giant lizards, horned toads, spiders and cockroaches are classics. Slow to get started but picks up after a while. Low budget but well done special effects for its time.
(au) wrote: Having just seen the Pusher trilogy, this seems pretty tame in comparison. The stakes just aren't really high enough and despite my affection for Jesse Eisenberg, I didn't really care enough about the plight his character gets himself into here. Fairly flat direction doesn't help.
(gb) wrote: Just watched this for the first time the other day on Netflix streaming and don't know why I'd never heard of it before, especially with a cast like Uma Thurman, Robert Deniro, and Bill Murray in his heyday. Wasn't the best movie, but still a well worth watching and takes one back to those early 90s days. I find it hard to keep track of who's who in Hollywood and Popland these days, maybe that means I am officially old??
(nl) wrote: This film is so hyped amongst sci-fi fans that I expected a lot better. The acting is bad and the story is ridiculous, even for a sci-fi. The effects are probably the best thing about this film. I shalln't be running out to watch the sequels.
