E o final ambguo, mas eu acho que o tal empresrio sequestrado acabou financiando as "causas" deles. E ainda terminou tocando Hallelujah, que no sei quem canta, mas it's so lovely. *-* Amei o filme, veria mais umas 10 vezes. E de forma indireta tambm prega o amor livre. ^^

Akiko A (ca) wrote: In 19th Century France, a father leaves his daughter Therese with his sister to take care of after he decides to return to Africa for work. He tells his daughter he will return, paying a monthly stipend to her aunt...but never returns. Jessica Lange plays her aunt Madame Raquin who has a son Camille (played brilliantly by Tom Felton). Madame Raquin is the controlling aunt that manipulates both her son and Therese's lives. Camille announces that he has gotten a job in Paris, and wants to move to the city...his mother protests. Camille stands up for himself, making the decision to go. Therese learns as they are eating lunch about the move, and that she will marry her cousin... Once in Paris, Madame Raquin buys a shop with quarters upstairs. Paris is a dirty dark city compared to their lives in the country. Therese is trapped everyday in the shop attending to the few customers that come in. One night at a game of dominos, she meets Laurent, the good friend of Camille. An instant attraction develops between Laurent and Therese. Camille doesn't have a clue. What starts as a passionate affair between Therese and Laurent becomes complicated with a tragedy that changes their lives and love forever. The performances are well done, with special kudos to Jessica Lange. The romantic passion that develops is sometimes slow and doesn't always connect with the audience. It is during this time I want something to happen. When it does, it is quite disturbing. What starts as romance quickly takes a turn down a dark path. You leave this film feeling like you lost someone. Tragedy and hope are tough companions.

Conner W (nl) wrote: This movie feels like it was a sleeper hit. I stumbled across this one on Amazon Prime and I really liked it. It's a slow movie, but an entertaining and riveting one. I hadn't heard anything about it and thought that it was fun and engaging. After watching it I read somewhere that it was "perfect Sunday-afternoon fare", and that's pretty much how I would describe it. A genuinely kind-hearted movie to watch with your family on a lazy day.
