Olivier L (ag) wrote: I loved this movie the same way I did with Hunger and Dancer In The Dark. It was able to find beauty in ugliness, wonderful performances and I loved every long shot this had. Thought provocking and expertly directed, this deserves five stars and the Palme D'Or.

Jon C (es) wrote: a smart, effective thriller it's like 'When A Stranger Calls' amped up to a more creepy level Monica Keena's acting is spot-on terrific the film's lighting I admired alot too just a few minor gripes I had: the music is out of focus, there's some unnecessary melodrama, and the twist at the end is stil just a tad confusing other than that this is a very errie film that plays on the caller-stalker scenario

Chris B (it) wrote: A strong and bold look at female sexuality during adolescence and also a coming of age story between two sisters. The story revolves around a gorgeous 15 year old sister and her fat 12 year old younger sister. Graphic it's in sexuality and brutally honest, the story is quite realistic and because of this connects deeply with the audience. A rather shocking and graphic ending is a fitting conclusion for such a hard hitting drama and disturbing film. Another hard watch, but a rather great film that's honest and filmed with passion. You can see the passion in Director Catherine Breillat during the interviews that Criterion has provided in their Supplementary Features on the disc. The film has amazing cinematography and is brilliantly filmed, Recommended!

Thomas P (nl) wrote: This is what every Lifetime Movie strives to be, but only occasional attains. The key relationship starts innocently enough, but slowly turns abusive - and Fawcett brings a brilliant freshness to carry this otherwise , uh, lifetime movie. There's a vulnerability and nuance to Fawcett's acting here that rarely gets revealed on tv - it stunned ppl at the time and raised her acting reputation (and put Fawcett on the map suddenly as a "serious" actress) beyond the Charlie's Angel's / Logan's Run fun. In this movie, her emotional honesty, compelling and nuisanced vulnerability are a marvel to watch - as long as you see beyond the one-note characters and bland story around her. This might be my crush on Farrah talking, but you feel the authenticity she offers, and she shines brightly here, while effortlessly carrying this true story.I remember this as a youngster, and tho dated, still today is emotionally satisfying in it's truth.

Andrew R (mx) wrote: Another gem amongst the large number of high quality, british science fiction stories from the fifties. A fissure opens up in a quarry where an Army platoon are training. A large, gooey jam-like monster emerges and proceeds to terrorise the nearby scottish communities. As the creature consumes energy it grows, and soon tries to devore a nuclear power station. The acting is good qaulity, it has a decent musical score to compensate for the low-budget special effects and best of all it was a defining piece of hammer-horror.
