Shaolin Temple

There is no place more hallowed in the martial art world than China's Shaolin Temple. This special place deserves a special epic, which is what the martial arts maestro delivers in this battle between a brave brand of Chinese boxers and literally thousands of Ching troops - complete with betrayals, intrigues, and such novel fighting machines as 108 wooden robots. The conflicts grow in complexity, intensity and even suspense as monks struggle to stay alive in the face of overwhelming odds.

The Shaolin Temple is the last place to resist defeat by the Manchu Dynasty, mostly because of their unique fighting style. Men from far and wide come to wait outside the temple, hoping ... . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Samanthe S (gb) wrote: I can't believe Serenity is ranked so high. Really? This is not a good movie. I kept expecting it to pick up but it never did. Everything was so predictable and the acting was awful. The Captain was definitely unbelievable as a rogue and came off as dorky and insecure. The River character may have been the worst of them all. To me, she came off as a drug addict and not someone with special abilities. Her relationship with her brother was again, unbelievable. The brother character seemed creepy and untrustworthy. (I had hoped that the brother turned out to be a traitor, because then the movie would have been much more interesting.)The relationship between Zoe and Wash was one-sided believable. I believed Zoe had deep feelings for Wash, but didn't feel that he cared for her. The characters are poorly developed and I found it hard to relate to them, let alone care what happens to them. Then there are the slang words they use... I just wanted to scream "Stop trying to make Fetch happen!!!". The dialogue is predictable and poorly written. I really feel like the writer is trying to turn the Captain into Han Solo - it didn't work. The best things about this movie were Gina and Chiwetel; they showed the best acting skills. I never had any interest in the Firefly series and I was right not to.

John M (us) wrote: It's a perfect script in my opinion. And it's only taken to more levels with the way Alexander Payne is able to let simplicity hold the emotions of a film. "About Schmidt" is a film featuring one of Hollywood's biggest actors of all time taken to the lowest scale of production and smallest story on the screen only to connect with humans at the most personal and relatable level.

David J (fr) wrote: this is a wonderful movie that I saw in the eighties. so i have looked for it on video. Found one online and its really ghastly---has a terrible dvd transfer that is unwatchable. got it from amazon, and wonder how it was made. it looks like a home-video of a drive-in showing.

Maksim B (gb) wrote: Far more psychological drama and character study than a war thriller, Good Kill is a thought-provoking, uneasy and gut-wrenching movie which describes the modern warfare of nowadays and asks legitimate and hard-to-answer moral questions. Thomas Egan (Ethan Hawke) is a grounded F16 pilot who is leading drone missions and is selected to lead special ops for the CIA. Facing life on the ground and spending hours looking at a monitor, locked in a container, Egan received tasks which are controversial to say at least. A detailed character study of the people involved in drone wars, the desensualization of the team and the realities which they face in the containers come as a huge blow to the innocent and uninformed audience. The combination of director Andrew Nicol and Ethan Hawke is so realistic that every time he zeroes a target and fires the weapons of the drone the result on the monitors is brutally and disturbingly authentic. The movie could have been even much better if Ethan Hawke's character family problems were further explored, but on the other hand this would have decreased the effect of spending so much time locked in the container together with him. Good Kill is definitely a movie to be seen, but not by people searching for a mainstream entertainment. Provoking, hard-to-chew and demanding, this is hard to watch, but excellent movie.

Scott W (ca) wrote: Actually a pretty underrated movie. What at first seems like an unoriginal crime thriller turns out to be much more with some clever and fun plot twists towards the end. Dan Stevens is an actor to watch with another impressive performance here.
