Ming Siu G (it) wrote: It hits all the notes, but doesn't do so in any inspired or exciting way. The love story barely works in the beginning, but Oyelowo and Pike do great work with what they're given. When the political machinations begin, we're given cardboard sneering racist villains which are easy to hate, and I wish there'd been more depth to both these characters and the twists and turns of the process. But in the world we live in today, the questions and issues this film raises are still sadly pertinent, whether it be racial equality or sovereignty.

k s (it) wrote: whatever. it's still their house, it's as if the cousins have never been there before. why were they killed just like now? and how could they ever think that the geek that they brought with them would sit outside for a very long long time. duh? and the girl was awake longer than the guy, does she really have to wait for him to wake up?

Simon P (nl) wrote: History, satirical surrealism and Peckinpah style violence. Alex Cox's oddly brilliant blend makes a tasty little film. Ed Harris and Peter Boyle are both excellent as is Joe Strummer's cleverly varied soundtrack.

Zane T (es) wrote: This movie isn't scary, unless you're a four-year-old. For the most part, this works as a Unsolved Mysteries bit rather than a thriller. Not really a documentary, but not really a movie either scenes of non-actors recreating instances. We never do see the Fouke monster up close which is a problem as well as that sappy song played half way through. For the most part, this shines light on a mythical creature of southwest Arkansas.

Tommy D (au) wrote: After watching the TV show I thought a film couldn't represent well the 1998 novel of the same name by Nick Hornby.I was wrong. It can. This thoughtful adaptation revolves around the idea that no man is an Island, connecting the needs of Marcus (Nicholas Hoult ) and the needs of Will (Hugh Grant), helping each other out. What's more, the editing and the cinematography make this film even better.

Brandon S (fr) wrote: A masterful question-and-answer session with no answers, which may be a negative for a lesser film, but not for this thinking man's sci-fi film.

Jonan G (ca) wrote: Can't believe no one has hyped this movie to me yet. It's like Nolan's "The Prestige" hit the overdrive button.

Bill B (it) wrote: Finally crossed it off the list of shame via a cheap copy that turned up at a local pawn shop. It's a fairly long-winded story overall, and I have to being straight up shocked that it took the director most of the film to finally get Tawny Kitaen to show some flesh, but I guess that's what I get for having expectations.Rental?
