When he finds out the murders are for real he tries to cover one crime yet making things worse. The acting is brill by all with Furlong going from strength to strength proving he is great at different roles. Trickster is def way more interesting then Freddy Kruger and Smith gets some great lines with his role. The effects are not as gory as usual but there's some decent CGI effects. My only gripe is Langella is a tad wooden in his cop role and the ending screams sequel but its def worth seeing.

Of all the silents (few are ever as good as people want us to believe but when you find a good one it is usually REALLY good) The Last Laugh isn't one of the worst nor one of the best. Emil Jannings portrayal of the doorman starts off heartbreaking but becomes rather pathetic with the usual silent overacting. Ho-hum to say the least but the short run time (most silents tend to be really long compared to The Last Laugh) makes up for the overall slowness of the film.
Ariel H (gb) wrote: Sure a lot of it was clich (C), you never actually feared the characters were in danger and some of it was pretty stupid but it was a good distraction.
