With Lauren Bacall.

Halle Berry isn't too convincing as a crackhead, but it is nice to see her in a different light. The race issue seems somewhat contrived, but I suppose without it the film wouldn't have as much meat and controversy. It's an emotional and stirring story even if it does come off as perhaps too scripted.

(gb) wrote: The first act is about a group of people training to be in the marine corps. Their drill instructor Lt. Lockhart, is really hard on them and his insults are actually quite funny. The first act was centered around Pvt. Joker and his experiences. As the scene continues on, one of the volunteers named Pvt. Pyle, is shown to be overweight and is often picked on by Lt. Lockhart. You can't help but to feel sorry for Pvt. Pyle and throughout the first act, you're hoping that he'll be able to turn himself around so he can pass. The ending of the scene was highly tragic but fitting. The second act showed that Pvt. Joker finished boot camp and was now in the Vietnam War. It showed him fighting through enemies as they advanced in the war. I don't think the second act was as good as the first act because the second act didn't draw me back in as much. Still I wouldn't describe the second act as bad because it was still entertaining. The scene when they are pinned down by a sniper is very tense. None of the fighting sequences carried on for too long and seemed to be just the right length. This is a very good movie so make sure you watch it.
(au) wrote: This is a slow burner, but I like those. If you lose concentration for just a minute you'll miss a lot of detail. That's both a positive and a negative; on one hand the film doesn't treat the audience like children, which is rare, but on the other hand it can be a bit of a hard nut to crack at times.Thought provoking film though, I was thinking about this for a few days after seeing it.
(es) wrote: Bacon and Eggs have never seemed so ominous. This is a really fun idea for a movie. A couple haunted by exact replicas of themselves, in a haunted house of sorts set up by their therapist. It's the Twilight Zone of romantic comedies. If only it were made to seem as good as that. It's extremely bland. Ethan and Sophie are a generic, quirky couple. Their dimension as characters seem very thin. The dialogue they engage in, is largely banal and meaningless. Save for the "Aardvark" metaphor, which I found pretty funny. I enjoyed the film's nuance on which Ethan and Sophie were the real ones, and the final shot of the movie is absolutely fantastic. But other than that, not much to recommend.
(ru) wrote: Wow. This movie was awwwesomeee.. It\'s a great film like all Underworld movies, but this one is just great. Action at all times, intense. It\'s just an amazing movie. The sound in that Imax was just amazing. Every little detail sound like you where inside the movie. This film was very well done. I have to say that the 3D was not as good as a expected it to be. The 3D effects are almost none. But the movie is still awesome. Specially in Imax.
