The action choreography was nice but the editing was inconsistent, often separating action and reaction needlessly.

I count myself among the former, though I'll readily admit a credible case can be made for both. Our pony-tailed hero plays the titular mercenary who is blackmailed into participating in a daring prison break, but then afterwards seek justice (i.e. bloody revenge on his blackmailers). That's pretty much it. Either you will be entertained by Seagal's Aikido moves (which seem progressively slower with each film and masked by quick editing) and his toupee wearing, big coat sporting swagger. The only things to distinguish this film from Seagal's other direct-to-video action films are that the mail vilian is played by Roger Guenveur Smith who I had a terrible time placing until I realized he played Smiley in "Do the Right Thing." Also worth noting is Jacqueline Lord is quite good as Seagal's female partner and according to IMDB Lesley-Anne Down appears uncredited as a newscaster, though I missed it.
(us) wrote: An entertaining, gory, and hilarious piece of 80s horror, Slugs is crap from beginning to end, but its decent special effects and its plot help make it a horror film worthy of watching for fans of 80s horror cinema. Undoubtedly, one of the lamer animals-attack films--slugs are not really that scary--Slugs manages to create humor as well as revulsion from the slugs and hence succeeds in becoming a minor b-movie masterpiece.
