Never have I ever been impressed with Lili Taylor.Never have I ever seen a woman play one role and be mistaken for Oliver Twist the entire time...until this film. I saw this movie at an Andy Warhol art exhibit. Don't worry. In addition to Warhol there were modernist painters. Unfortunately, there were also post-modern "sculptures," which really, I could describe as being a mess made on the floor. I'm surprised janitors don't mistake it for garbage.Rant aside, this film started off okay. It proceeded to stay at "okay" and then drag on for too long. (jp) wrote: This was an okay movie, very low key, helped along by Peter Fonda who is exceptional. He plays Ulee, a reserved Florida bee keeper forced to put his splintered family back together when his incarcerated son asks for a favour. Solid acting with some great scenes between Fonda and Patricia Richardson. The budget is low but that doesn't affect anything. Also includes a young Jessica Biel. The quiet beekeeping scenes are beautifully done. 8/23/14

Visuals are decent although nothing too mindboggling. Van Damme still can't act, but this a better effort from him than most of his acting career. I really liked Ron Silver as the villain in the film. He was cunning and calculating. Other than that it was hard to ignore the numerous plot holes, horrendous dialog and a slight lack of Van Damme's traditional martial art fighting as he trades it in for weapons and a time traveling device. Like I said it's a watchable film, which is rare since there are only a few Van Damme movies that are considered "watchable".
