Ike O (us) wrote: Dull, meandering, misguided, silly, predictable, and woefully shallow, it is to some extent redeemed by excellent performances from Kevin Bacon and Colin Firth who, on 2nd viewing, really weren't given enough to do but did more with it than the film deserved. Alison Lohman is an incredible actress but is astonishingly flat and hollow here, so Egoyan - a filmmaker I find more ponderous than insightful - has to take the blame on this one.

Hard hitting martial arts is still is one my favorivite things to see for any film that to me was definitely worth every penny to be added onto my long extensive action film collection!! This is Samo at his best who also ended up marrying the actress Joyce Goodenza who also starred in this film too. I must confess though, all I did was that I fast- forwarded most of it's dismissal storyline and just watch the action sequences, since at that particular time action sequences are always planned first before storyline. While the storyline gets a zero, but as an action film- this film gets 4 out of 4
