Parker S (ru) wrote: This film basically just follows normal people, but it has a charm that made me really enjoy it. This movie probes the hardship of relationships and all that, but what interested me was the smart script and the great performances. While subtitled, I still could see the emotion, and unlike Meek's Cutoff, the characters were connectable and ultimately real. Thats all there really is to say about it, its a realistic account of people like Before Sunrise and I wasn't bored by it, which is a testament to the actors and screenwriters.

William C (us) wrote: Grade:Low 7/10Flash Point is a martial arts film that is full of fast violence, overly dramatic characters and big car chases, might sound a bit crazybut it is actually quite good fun. With a story we have seen before, the creators had to bring something new, and for me they brought greatsequences of fighting that over shadow even the dialogue. For me thefilm was firmly a kind of good movie and here below is why I think italso, a little bit underrated. The story is fast paced as previously mentioned and it makes thecharacters never quite seem safe, or that gravity doesn't bound them tothe earth as some stunts are maybe a little over the top, but in anyway it is still good fun to watch. It's a cop story that has been triedand tested but they manage to churn a version of it out well and for mepersonally(who has never really seen Hong Kong cinema), it goes downwell and this is a perfect advert for Good Hong Kong martial arts filmsin which I also believe we have to watch a bit more of, even if onlyfor it's crazy stunts. The cast do a very basic job and no one not even the main actor DonnieYen do an outstanding piece of work. They do go well together thoughand I found the characters such as the one Donnie Yen plays as the copwho is rational and good hearted(deep down) where as some other lesssavoury characters are around who are really evil and mean to take anychances to take those who stand against them out. The characters arealso fun to see handle with the stunts as when fighting, you feel somewill not fight well but then BOOM! They hit someone in a mid air kick, great stuff.Wilson Yip as director does a good job and manages to not make itconstant fighting, the film has some good drama, especially near theending. Of course when talking technical, the main point anyone wouldmention is the fighting scenes which are choreographed superbly, andeven when with guns they do well, the film is perfectly done for thiskind of genre and for anyone who is an aspring Kung-Fu director orchoreographer, this is a prime example. Locations are nice too and if Iwas the Hong Kong tourism board I would be praising this as it isbeautiful scenery among all the carnage. It is a bit crazy and that is the main criticism, the fights can goinsane like with what I was saying about the anti physics fighting thatjust goes crazy. The script is a little weak and some things said arethe most basic words ever know to man with no heart really going intomuch, but still it makes for some entertainment anyways. One last thingis the basic story used which kind of is always seen and could angersome as maybe it is just too basic and average like.People who love fight films should love this and of course those wholove Martial Art films(especially those from the area it was invented).I think also if you are looking for a quick film to thrill you this isthe one with your heart beating maybe a few times but just have a look.People who want more classy action, don't see this, it's crazy fightscenes are just too much sometimes and could put some off with just onescene of fighting.Overall a low 7/10 firmly a pretty good movie but never quite get's nearbeing straight good, but is in no way falling to just be OK. I feelwith this that the film isn't so much memorable but still have a lookand see and maybe you will enjoy it. Will also add that this is in noway a massive budget film and some explosion seem a bit weird, but Iwill commend them for managing such good effects with such a lowbudget.

Danny G (ca) wrote: The reviews made it look good, and the trailer made it look good. But in the end? The movie was a letdown. Very disappointing.

Timothy F (jp) wrote: The story is certainly interesting in concept, but its telling leaves much to be desired. While the film focuses on the commander, the viewer's attention is almost always with the soldiers. The result is a disjointed story that never seems to focus where we want it to focus.

Vinnie B (us) wrote: Bad movie fans need to see this, now. Idiots who surf with sharks, giant crocodile, pirates, titties, horrible fx, ample gore, and the worst one-liners in the history of film.

Danielle S (es) wrote: A Los Angeles couple (the improbably paired Woody Allen and Bette Midler) head for the mall on their anniversary to do some shopping and, among other things, wind up revealing marital infidelities and having sex with each other in a movie theater. Aside from the idea of the neurotic Allen visiting a mall, there is surprisingly little entertainment value here. Both actors exert serious effort to impart a humorous spin to some of the most pretentious and tedious dialogue in recent memory. Shadowed by a particularly irksome mime, an overdressed mariachi band and a barbershop quartet singing carols, the two trade barbs at the mall's various milieus. Sometimes the situations are fresh and funny -- as when they are overcome by lust at a matinee of "Salaam Bombay" --but mostly they are stale and therapeutic. Still Allen and Midler, with their various other flaws in common, recall partners who have been together so long they are starting to look like each other. They do indeed seem caught up in the conflicting emotions of breaking up, alternately furious, tenderhearted and aggrieved. The trouble is that as California trendies, they make such familiar targets.

Ian C (br) wrote: The age old format of betrayal, defeat, retrain and revenge plays out well with an emotional finale.

Reuben S (es) wrote: Although there is a clever world created in Soylent Green and a smart story with a successfully developed sinister, dark and creepy veil, all with spot on cinematography and sets; the film I watched isn?t particularly enjoyable or exciting. Yes, Heston does a good job as Detective Thorn, who is an apt vehicle for the narrative, but many other performances are overblown, and some characters simply don?t add anything to the film, other than small developments of the sinister feeling, which is one of the few things this film got totally right. It?s too slow moving, and there is not enough action, or a good use of music or sounds, which the film would have benefited from. Also, though there is a smart story at the heart of it, it is not used to its full potential and is regrettably a little predictable. It?s a decent film, but not one I?ll likely watch again.
