James R (de) wrote: Sean Connery returns after George Lazenby departed the franchise after only one Bond film. Diamonds are Forever was Connery's last hurrah in an official EON produced 007 film. By this time Connery had played in six Bond films and it just kinda was starting to wear thin. The movie takes place after the events of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) Bond seeks out Blofeld and thinks he kills him. 007 then is tasked with finding out who is buying all the worlds diamonds after a number of 00 Agents and Government officials are murdered. Lo and behold Blofeld (Charles Gray) is behind it all using the diamonds to create another crazy take over the world scheme. The film follows the basic Bond formula up into this time. There's the main villain, but also his two henchmen that are super creepy Mr. Kidd (Putter Smith) and Mr. Wint (Bruce Glover), the Bond girl is a diamond smuggler named Tiffany Case (Jill St. John) who has some large attributes! The movie has arguably one of the best theme songs though and it sets the stage for a pretty decent final Bond film for Connery. It get's very campy especially near the end, but I will say the plot is pretty well done overall and easy to follow regardless of how silly it really is. Not Connery's best, but definitely not the worst 007 film in my opinion.
Gavin P (us) wrote: A literal classic, that's been re-told over & over, in different forms and interpretations, for decades since! 'Helpless' housewife seduces man & convinces (with little effort, really!) him to kill her 'bad' husband and they can collect the insurance money & run away together. If only it was that simple! Solid effort from MacMurray & Stanwyck, with some great lines & back and forth. Good have been a bit faster, but a great noir nonetheless.
