Carl N (au) wrote: I love Seagal films but this is horrendous! I had read that this was originally filmed as a sci-fi horror movie. But For some godforsaken reason the production company decided to eliminate the sci-fi elements and replace them with another plot about an addictive drug that turns its users into superhuman killers. After filming was complete! So in there wisdom they totally re-edited the film and dubbed the majority of Seagals dialog. But they dubbed it without Seagal! The guy they got into do it sounded nothing like Seagal. So the film was totally lost to me then. The random switching back and fourth of dubbed voice to Seagals own voice made this nearly unbearable to watch. I certainly couldn?t enjoy it at all.

Inside a group of people try to survive and get through the ship and try to get to the bottom ( which is now the top ) of the ship before it sinks. This heart pounding thrilling movie is awesome. It is amazing the way the came up with the things they did when they made this. It is totally amazing how they did it all on a sound stage and came up with what they did. I think Wolfgang Peterson is an amazing director. He even has some great actors in this like Kurt Russell and Richard Dreyfuss. It is really an exciting and breathtaking movie. Its kinda similar in a way with Titanic but this is far more fun and exciting and has way better effects in it. So far I think this is my favorite disaster movie. A great thriller and terrific ride thanks to the great directing of Wolfgang Peterson.

Jessica G (gb) wrote: I was EXTREMELY dissapointed with this movie, not only is that water giant extremely ugly in the movie (why didn't the kids get scared by it?), but the movie was clich after clich. It even follows all the basic orders of a movie.- Dad can't keep promise to kid- Once dad promises something, something with work comes up- Kid is angry with parent and won't talk to it- A person has seen the monster, but everybody thinks that person is crazy- Scientists shows up to kill monsterI'm very sure there were more clichs, but I fell asleep, so I lost count...
Brandon W (gb) wrote: I honestly don't know what to make of this, but given from this insane film leaving me with no feeling and wondering, "What just happened?" I'll do my best to review it. Johnny Depp and Bencio Del Toro give out some fantastic performances, and their chemistry is really great. It's interesting how crazy and more crazy it can get, and the effects during the drug scenes look really good and they are definitely in a Gilliam style. The characters are repulsive, but enjoyable at the same time. There are some funny parts in it, but there were a lot of moments that I wasn't really sure if it was suppose to be funny. The plot is just there, like it's only about two crazy guys going to different places, doing crazy things. After finishing it, I was pretty much like, "Ok, so that just happened." I enjoy it I guess, and it was pretty much a trippy trip. When Terry Gilliam aid that he wanted Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas to be one of the best films, but also one of the worst ones, I can see that, and it turn out to be more of the middle, but towards the positive.

Robert A (jp) wrote: It's a bit like eXistenZ in the end, except this came out 5 years before that movie. It's a bit on the cheesy side but I like this taste of cheese. It's interesting and is an exploration in the dangers of virtual reality gone a little too far.

Stuart K (kr) wrote: Based on a 1965 Broadway musical by Alan Jay Lerner and Burton Lane. Despite critical indifference to the musical, a film adaptation was made by the great Vincente Minnelli (Meet Me in St. Louis, An American In Paris and Gigi), it was released at a difficult time when Hollywood was shunning films like this, it's beautiful to look at but like it's main character, it's a bit scatterbrained. It has kooky chainsmoker Daisy Gamble (Barbara Streisand) going to psychiatrist Marc Chabot (Yves Montand) to help kick her habit. Instead, Chabot discovers Daisy has extrasensory perception, and under a spell. Daisy becomes Melinda Winifred Waine Tentrees, a lady in 19th Century England attached to royality, married to the rich Robert Tentrees (John Richardson). Chabot becomes more and more attracted to Daisy under the hypnotic guise of Melinda, but Daisy has little idea of what's going on. It's well made, and the bits in 19th Century England are very well filmed, and it's a clever concept, but it doesn't gel very well. This is a film that could do with a remake. But, it has a BRILLIANT supporting cast including Jack Nicholson, Bob Newhart, John Le Mesurier, Irene Handl and Roy Kinnear!! :D
