Ricardo O (it) wrote: A superb Scottish film, and an excellent first feature from director Lynne Ramsay. The acclaim it instantly garnered and has continued to garner is well deserving. It's poignant, almost depressing at points but also has slight bits of humor. It is an extremely real portrayal of the impoverished Glasgow residents of the early '70s. Beautiful camerawork and consistently good acting, particularly the little hero of the film. Ratcatcher is hard to stomach at times but is highly recommended viewing for it's stark realism and power. Excellent movie. 8/10
Brandon C (ru) wrote: There is really no reason why this film should have sucked so bad. An all-star cast of actors and actresses who were big at some point in the 80s into the 90s. Just a horrible movie that should have never been made, but it managed to produce a sequel unbelievably.

Corey n (jp) wrote: Not one of my favorite Jet Li movies. I really enjoyed the action and fight scenes in the film. They were top notch. It was the overall story I found to be very weak. Jet Li is great in the lead role and pulls off the Kato look very well. But again the story could have been a bit better.

Kevin M W (de) wrote: Selnick's slick paean to an idealized life at the homefront while Dad's away fighting the war shows an upper middle class family "roughing it" through. American propaganda, sure, but well done nonetheless, with the cast delivering on all counts. The music score, indeed the film itself, includes healthy doses of "I'll Be Home For Christmas" which was popular during filming. A dog steals the film though with comic bits leavening the drama throughout.
