Steamboat Round the Bend

When riverboat captain Doctor John Pearly (Rogers) learns that his nephew Duke has killed a man in self-defense, he urges Duke to turn himself in. With time running out - and Pearly's rival Captain Eli itching to race his paddle wheeler, the Pride of Paducah, against Pearly's steamboat, the Claremore Queen - Pearly sets off on a wild race to find New Moses, free Duke...and lasso a win for the Claremore Queen.

Matthew L (de) wrote: A vibrant and joyous celebration of perhaps the greatest cinematographer of all time. It's like being in the presence of a master. A strong and admiring documentary detailing Cardiff's tremendous work.

Brad S (br) wrote: This is an interesting companion piece to my favourite documentary "When We Were kings". This one focuses on the concert that was to coincide with the "Rumble in the Jungle", the Ali/Foreman fight in Zaire. some top-notch talent is featured here such as bill Withers, B.B. King and James Brown. obviously the music is great, but there's also some excellent behind the scenes footage. Check it out!

Alexis M (gb) wrote: Even though this film isn't a masterpiece, I couldn't find anything wrong with it. The way the story, the script, the directing, and the acting blend together so beautifully it's hard to really critique it. You could ask me specifically why I love this film so much, I probably couldn't give you a straight answer, it was a real, honest film that seemed like it wasn't trying at all. It's something that an average moviegoer and a professional critic would love, with some of the funniest/most awkward moments in cinema that I've seen, and moments of deep conflicting issues on race and religion. I kept forgetting that I was watching a film made in the 90's, and not the 50's. The language was so accurate and there were many sayings and activities mentioned that you could swear is was made back then. I recommend this to everyone. Really, go see it now.

Timothy J (nl) wrote: A classic Gary Cooper film based on the true story of World War 1's most decorated American who charged multiple Machine Gun Nests to single-handedly capture a German position. A little dated but still holds its own.

Logan M (fr) wrote: A farcical romantic comedy that's surprisingly true, and finds humor and emotion in the unlikeliest of places.

Joo P (gb) wrote: A brilliant masterpiece by David Cronenberg and an underrated film. "Videodrome" is a fantastic film, intriguing, weird and bizarre, everything you can expect from a Cronenberg film. Visually stunning with a fantastic use of practical effects," Videodrome" takes an interesting step in portraying technology in an unique way to make a commentary on the world's reliance in technology.

Paula M (mx) wrote: this movie is cute and funny. I wish there had been a more drastic change in behavior of the main character. they really missed some good opportunities. some spots seemed to drag. overall good to watcg on a Saturday when nothing is on.
