Max M (mx) wrote: I liked this a lot. The plot doesn't deviate very far from the true events that inspired the film. I felt that the acting was very real and sincere, and there were definitely those moments of suspense. The turn of events is touching, and you can really feel the humanity in each of the characters. This is definitely a movie I would see again, and i would definitely bring a friend.

He meets a nice woman, only to discover later that she was nice to him just to gain access for a jewelry theft. Aki Kaurismaki's film center's on one man's loneliness. His static style, where he lets the camera linger on objects is prevalent as well. Its pretty surprising to me how much I could empathize with this character because his performance is so cold, but it really does work.

Drew H (nl) wrote: If this movie wasn't the Dolph Lundgren vehicle it turned into it might have been good. Technically proficient, but the story that actually was trying to say something was hijacked into a brainless actioner.

Tracee E (kr) wrote: Supergood!!!! Both Molly Ringwald and Randall Batinkoff (underrated 80s hunk -- just as tempting as Jack Ryan, if not more) were fantastic as teenage HS sweethearts. Who can forget "I'm pregnant..can you pass the turnips?" It really is a sweet movie.
Bill B (au) wrote: I picked this up as a double feature with another film from the same time period (the mid-'80s) and was fairly amused with it even if it doesn't exactly blow my skirt up. I've definitely found that I have a much higher tolerance for middle of the road horror fare than I do for middle of the road sci-fi, so this one was watchable for me but never really completely won me over.Rental, but might be better left to sci-fi fans.
