But this film continues to show these are two of the most versatile beings in the film industry right now. The grittiness and epicness of this film is great to watch. It's not perfect by any means but it is entertaining.

Kim B (us) wrote: Great strong performances by poitier and steiger. An interesting plot regarding racism in the south in late 60s with an underlying murder mystery. Honestly i was amazed poitier stayed there to help the town after the detestable and life-threatening treatment he received. I was equally surprised by how steiger character turned around from the beginning being ignorant racist and corrupt to defending poitier, understanding and respecting him. Both opposite personality characters had something to learn from one another. That town is the type of place id stay the hell away from ew what a gross backwards place. The ending with the murder mystery was a bit anti climatic and confusing but the movie had great tension throughout and def worth a look to see where we've come from as a nation.

Dino S (kr) wrote: This Movie is so bad that I laughed all the way through it. The writers seem to be on something when they wrote the script and shared it with the director as well. So many flaws and unbelievable scenarios IE: A guy is standing knee deep in the water and this over 3 meter high shark leaps out into the air and eats him disappearing back into the knee high water. Amazing and yet as they try to get to safety throughout the whole movie looking for land, nearly all the camera shots show it only meters away. I would put this movie in the lowest of low and waste of time seeing it. Who knows it might be a classic in 20 years time. Worth a laugh just to see how badly it was made. Cheers
