(es) wrote: I'd kind of forgotten about Morton Downey Jr., but this documentary brought back my high school memories of watching his over-the-top talk show where he'd get in the face of Nazis, Ron Paul, or just about anyone who appeared on his show. I'd never though of him as anything more than a joke but this documentary makes the case that Downey paved the way for more "legitimate" of provocative political talk show hosts like Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, and such. I'd also forgotten about Downey's downfall after he faked being attacked by Nazis, which was a blast from the past.
(us) wrote: Great movie overall. Horrible ending. Way too many loose ends. There's a difference between letting the audience decide the end and completely raping your audience of an ending. Total tease.

(gb) wrote: All film series dwindle down as the chapters get higher, but this is one terrible sequel! First off, where was Andrew Divoff? Having him as the Djinn made the first two fun.The guy this time was more clownish than scary. And I thought 2 had a low budget, this one had barely any special effects, and what it did have here was awful.

(de) wrote: La Vie De Boheme - by Aki Kaurismaki (1992)Very very good film. I loved it from the beginning. With plenty of humor and strong emotions. Watch it definitely.
(us) wrote: The first half is solid. I like how Hyams tells most of what occurs from the perspective of the conspirators. Hal Holbrook is given some pretty fantastic speeches, and generally they are the kind of stuff we usually hear towards the end of most films of this genre. I was hoping that this was a sign that Hyams was interested in the complex moral situation regarding media manipulation that he presents in the beginning and was trying to get past the obligatory conspiracy setup in favor of more interesting themes. Unfortunately, it turns into a sub-standard chase movie for the final hour that's not even remotely engaging.

(br) wrote: Not great, but very good. Maybe it helps that I know a man a lot like Eastwood's character, so it was interesting to see a man like that soften up, even if it was just a little. Enjoyed the story even if it wasn't anything groundbreaking. For the most part the acting was good, a few moments here and there that lines were delivered in a tone that didn't fit the tone of the moment. Still, really enjoyed it overall.
(kr) wrote: Admittedly a little slow going but at the heart of it - it was very inspiring and Director Clint Eastwood did a fantastic job! Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela was spot on!Highly recommended!
(au) wrote: Great movie, if you're not into blood or war, you can very easily toss a few tomatoes. I am fortunate to have watched this movie and not have seen the reviews prior to. I agree with the other guy, hopefully there is a sequel. Movies like this and 300 always get bashed because people are hyper-sensitive to violence. Mankind has been and are barbaric when it comes to survival, honor, truth, and meaning. This movie laid it out.
