Summer in February
The Newlyn School of artists flourished at the beginning of the 20th Century and the film focuses on the wild and bohemian Lamorna Group, which included Alfred Munnings and Laura and Harold Knight. The incendiary anti-Modernist Munnings, now regarded as one of Britain's most sought-after artists, is at the centre of the complex love triangle, involving aspiring artist Florence Carter-Wood and Gilbert Evans, the land agent in charge of the Lamorna Valley estate. True - and deeply moving - the story is played out against the timeless beauty of the Cornish coast, in the approaching shadow of The Great War.
The film tells a true tale of love, liberty and scandal amongst the Edwardian artists' colony in Cornwall. Two friends (Dominic Cooper, Dan Stevens) at a 1913 British artists colony compete for the affections of a comely debutante, but the object of their pursuit soon learns to regret her choice. . Now that we've cleared the air, I was really pleased with the unexpected turns and the comical characterization. The script was well-written, beginning with an impossible situation that becomes believable as the movie progresses and then shifting the movie in a new direction that you don't anticipate. The ending is the best part, revealing clues that help you to slowly decipher what is actually happening instead of throwing a sudden twist in your face. The real highlight of this film is the acting. Comedies often rely on blatant jokes instead of quality acting, but the comedy in this film is a direct result of the chemistry between Willis and Billy Bob Thornton. They are a true odd couple, particularly with the introduction of their X-factor, Cate Blanchett (the highlight of the film). "Bandits" combines the best elements of a heist film, a chick flick, an action film, and a comedy to create a film full of laughter and intrigue.

Clay and Blair have plans to go to college together - only Blair chickens out at the last minute and ends up with Julian in some attempts to comfort each other when Clay's gone.Six months later things are messed up and Blair calls Clay to come visit at Christmas. Clay, who thinks he might have a shot with his ex, isn't all that thrilled to learn that Julian is neck deep in trouble over drugs, debts, and a mutual friend called Rip.The story soon spins a little out of control, showing small glimpses of how an ideal life falls apart and friends either help each other or abandon ship.Robert Downey Jr. is brilliant as Julian who is trying so hard but failing at everything. Andrew McCarthy does a surprisingly good portrayal of Clay who tries to pick up the pieces without realizing it might be too late already.A touching story with no extra elements other than some stubs of side-stories about the families of the three central characters. Gritty and unpolished, the lines are delivered a bit haltingly but it only gives the movie a realistic sound.Definitely worth a watch (especially for RDJ fans!).
