(br) wrote: The strong realism in "The Dreamlife of Angels" is both good and perjudicial for the film. In a way, it is what makes it so outstanding, and what makes it so beautiful. However, it's undeniable that it might make it boring for several viewers. One can't be snobbish enough to believe that EVERYONE should like this type of movie. Personally, I found it great, and was moved to tears near the end. But I also thought the style of it was a little too dry often (not dry in the manner of Bresson, but just empty), and I noticed several people in the auditorium were intensely bored (:P like me in "boy Meets girl"). Anyways, it's a lovely, deep film, with excellent acting. I found Isa one of the most likeable but real characters in modern cinema, someone who isn't perfect but that we still want to be happy. The ending is especially memmorable.
