(ag) wrote: This is an absolute brilliant insight into the world of record labels and how the business works. It captivates the audience's attention and, despite being documentary, actually keeps them on the edge of their seats wanting to know the next twists and turns in the story. Especially appreciated by those who love the band and their music; particularly their 'This Is War' album the documentary is set around.I enjoyed this so much in fact that I wouldn't mind seeing it again!
(au) wrote: This low-budget thriller looks more expensive than it is with its imaginative use of set, like the spooky amusement park and, outstandingly, the titular cornfields. This film was great for what it was and it didn't need a huge budget to pull it off, I was impressed, I say SEE IT!!!

(jp) wrote: Excellent movie. Very obviously adapted from a manga just by the way the characters were. The comedic gay scenes were done perfectly without being offensive or homophobic, especially with the gay French patissier. The musical numbers were surprising and fun. And of course, keeping with the Fantasia festival's form, there was a bit of an out-of-left-field dark side to it all.Yet another great crowd pleaser!
(de) wrote: this star-studded bill duke film is not his best, but it does have a good cast as well as an important message about the problem of reckless brothas on the down low that aren't wearing condoms.
(fr) wrote: The best adaptation of "A Shadow over Innsmouth." It is also one of the best films of Stuart Gordon's later work. Effective and brooding. It loses some steam toward the end, but everything up until that point is great. Faithful to the original Lovecraft story, as well.
(fr) wrote: Spanning from 1979 to 1990, Jia's film tackles the sociocultural changes in China that followed the Open Door policy of the 1980s by tracing the lives of a group of performers in a Cultural Troupe (from peasant songs to breakdance electronic). Although we stick with a few principals, the long shot long take method makes them less the focus than the surrounding context, thereby underscoring the larger theme of cultural change and its impact. Impressively, the effects wrought by time are not highlighted by the director but occur more subtly as outside influences on fashion, music, and lifestyle creep in.
(gb) wrote: The last time I saw this movie was a couple of months back, and the first was in high school. This is a tremendous movie! It details a life of a young Japanese woman who becomes a "picture bride" to a sugar-cane field worker in Hawaii. The movie details their arrangement, marriage, and life together. Tamlyn Tomita stars in this movie, and incredibly shines! Great movie!
(fr) wrote: I learned about this film back when John Campea (the director of the movie) used to run a site called The Movie Blog (back when it was cool). And I have to say, he actually did a really good job. This is a really funny comedy, very influenced by Judd Apatow, and also has great performances from its main cast.

(au) wrote: Queen of Outer Space is pretty bad but at the same time its entertaining even though its cheesy, corny and incredibly campy for most of the film
(br) wrote: Within the clich (C)s and navy commercials, it was a high adrenaline movie that was way more than I was expecting. Although I must admit I wasn't expecting a lot. Very entertaining.

(mx) wrote: I don't know what made me remember that I saw this dumb movie when I was a kid, but did, many times. I think it was supposed to be Chuck Norris' transition from martial arts to Hollywood action-comedy, but I guess it never completely caught on. But it was enetertaining enough for a 9 year-old...
