A tender fable about childhood innocence amid the realities of war is set against the rugged landscape of Kashmir, so long a flash point for the territorial claims of neighboring India and Pakistan. The title character, an eight year old mountain boy, often hears distant gunfire. But it is not until he goes on a quest to reclaim his beloved donkey, which has been confiscated as payment of his poor family's debts, that he is drawn toward a violence he has no capacity to understand.

The precipitous opening title sequence with the eerie fading of the crowd reaction made progression towards the end more gut-wrenching. My only gripe is the finale which contains the all-too-conventional footage of the real life characters. Nonetheless, Fruitvale Station is a hard-hitting, concise, greatly acted "film" that's more than a film, but an emotional experience vivid enough to make viewers feel like they're next to Oscar Grant in his final hours.
(us) wrote: No, no, no... I thought that "Saving Private Ryan" and "Band of Brothers" put an end to generic WWII movies filled with cliches and sterotyped characters. Well, "Age of Heroes" proves that that is far from being the case - illogical story, heroes and villains we've seen in dussins of other mediocre war movies and complete absence of any sort of realism makes this movie absolutely unnecessary addition to the genre.

(de) wrote: Fictional garbage. The acting is so bad it borders on comical at times. Seriously questioning some of the other reviewers intelligence who gave this film any stars at all. Have I made myself clear on how horrendous this film was? PS---Boston accents are different from NY accents. For whatever reason a lot of actors don't understand or care about that but seeing as how it was filmed in LA I shouldn't be surprised.
(nl) wrote: Agree with the previous reviewers...was thinking what the fuck when it all came together..and then i still didnt get what it meant....reminded me of Memento actually..much better....this film has won awards apparently, though what for Im clueless..not for originality thats for sure.
(au) wrote: Watchable, but you can tell there hasn't been a lot of thought put into this mystery thriller, nor much effort by the actors.
(jp) wrote: Worst. Movie. Ever. What starts out with mild hope, quickly degenerates into a painful mess. I'm convinced Wes Craven hasn't actually made a decent film. He's an ideas man who knows a lot about horror (clearly, look at his track record) but somehow doesn't direct worth a damn. It's just one contrived cliche after another.
