Jeff K (au) wrote: A bit sloppy here and there, but addresses all the anti-moon-hoax arguments in a humourous way. Nonetheless it's an interesting thriller. Would it need to be a big conspiracy? What would Stanley Kubrick have to do with it? They even merges old and new footage a la Forest Gump! Heck, it's just as truthful. LOL! The ending is Superb. It's right up there with Rashomon (On the question of "what is truth" no less!!) It'd be 5 stars if they could have just edited the script one more time. The sloppiness only lasts for about a minute a couple of times. Cringe-worthy, but if you can get past it, and you can think for yourself, you'll be okay with it. So let's call it 5 stars for philosophers and film buffs, but 3 stars for people like the guy who runs "Bad Astronomy".It's one of those root for the bad guys movies in a sense. Very Japanese Cinema like that way. Not quite up their with Ash in Army of Darkness, but come on, it's just a movie. I liked it.

John R (de) wrote: 170212: From the start, this film turned me off. It seemed all about Leo (Ed Asner) and Asner's needs, desires. Perhaps it was. But, I stayed the course and saw Elephant Sighs through to the end. More than likely I heard the call. The last ten minutes of this film makes up for all the pain suffered on the way. Maybe life is like that? I hope it is. If you find this film in your possession, who knows if you'll see it through? If you do, hopefully you'll see some value in the time spent. On a seemingly black dog Sunday morning, I did.

Niloo R (it) wrote: beautiful cinematography, wonderful performances and a stellar soundtrack. sadly, wasted on an undeserving story. i could go into the technical details of why the script failed, but ultimately it boils down to this: we watch movies (or at least movies like this one) to see characters face insurmountable odds and make grave sacrifices and in the face of all obstacles persist and survive. the catharsis and tragedy that comes from a character failing is made powerful by his prevailing hope and persistence. this movie, despite its desire to elicit catharsis, ultimately glorified giving up and there is nothing moving about that.

James C (kr) wrote: Harlow "sings" and "dances" in this film about a Broadway star who falls for and marries a millionaire (Franchot Tone). William Powell plays a sports promoter/gambler who is secretly in love with Harlow and tries to help her when her husband, depressed kills himself and she gets accused of murder. Great support from Mae Robson & early Rosalind Russell & Mickey Rooney performances. Based on the real life event of actress Libby Holman (and not too far off from what happened to Harlow with husband Paul Bern.) (Harlow's singing & dancing are done by a double.)

Ashley H (nl) wrote: Very good classic western that has a Hollywood formula but with more than the usual edge. Showcasing the Native American side here during the late 19th century. Great chemistry between the lead actors. The production was nothing spectacular but was good enough over all due mainly to the script and performance of Burt Lancaster and Jean Peters. Good action mixed with a cute and convincing love story.
