It's essentially about a young man living a privileged life in Dublin. Richard's parents have provided a comfortable life, he has a great group of friends, he is well liked and respected and he's just met the perfect girl. What follows is a story about the split decisions we make at the height of our emotions, and the consequences of this on the world around us and the people we love. I thought Jack Reynor was superb in the central role, a character desperately trying to keep up the facade that everyone has grown so used to while at the same time his world is crumbling around him. Having previously directed Garage, and later, Room, the director is skilled at creating fragile worlds where emotional and moral conflicts are heightened.

(fr) wrote: What is this?! First off, I never heard of this film before, and apparently it was based off a novel. The film sounded cool and it has Sam Neill in it, but sadly it was so bad. The teen actors in this film were so unconvincing. Some of them started to annoy me. The film started out a little weird. So is Sam Neill's character an angel, an alien from another world, a magical wizard? What? In addition, I don't think the film ever explained why and how the two teenage twins were telepathic. Were they born that way? Does their telepathic abilities give them an edge over their enemies? I'm confused. Though I have to admit, the monsters, or even alien beings, were rather creepy at times. The make-up department did a great job with that, but sadly the film's CGI department was lacking. Some of the graphics were fine, but could have been better. Then again, this film was produced in New Zealand. I guess American movie-goers like myself has been spoiled. Anyway, the film was not as entertaining as I hope it would be. The film's screenplay was not that interesting, and the film's characters didn't engage me all that much. I even slept for at least ten minutes toward the ending. That tells you that the film's ending wasn't even that exciting. I personally will not watch this film again, and by watching this movie, it did not interest me in reading the original novel.

(de) wrote: Yeah, that just wasn't good at all. Story was cliche and typical and the acting was below average. Just not a good film.

A divorced husband who is cleverly disguised as another individual just to inspect his wife's real feelings, but mainly just to see his kids much more often. Instead of his wife giving him a second chance, he gives himself a second chance. One of the best Robin Williams movies I've seen, and it certainly is one of his biggest tributes to his untimely death (practically makes his Teddy Roosevelt parts look like nothing). If any other really good and favorable parts he's done, it would have to be the genie from Aladdin (with my love of animated films especially). With his amazing voice talent and his incredible improvisation, he will be truly missed for sure. Mrs. Doubtfire was a very heartwarming and well put-together film overall.
