Anthony L (gb) wrote: A brave, bold and fair portrayal of a very controversial historical figure - he isn't held in high regard by many but he is a very influential character in recent history and his story is told well here. The production is awesome, in my opinion it is only the casting that lets it down but not in every case, Aidan Quinn and Stephen Rea were great as is Liam Neeson although he's not particularly convincing as a 31 year old.

Stephanie F (fr) wrote: I recently bought the movies Edge of Sanity and Dominator. However, I decided to write a review about Edge of Sanity first. This film is Jekyll and Hyde meets Jack the Ripper. It stars Anthony Perkins as the repressed Dr. Jekyll and the devious Jack Hyde. The movie starts showing Perkin's character of Henry Jekyll as a child. He is watching his father have sex with a woman. While watching he falls and is hanging by his feet only to be beaten by his father while the woman laughs sadistically at him. Then the scene cuts to Henry as an adult. He is now a well respected doctor. He begins lab experiments on cocaine. When a lab monkey tampers with the substance he gets a big whiff of it and transforms into the evil Jack Hyde who begins terrorizing London by slashing prostitutes throats and engaging in very kinky orgies. I thought this movie was really good. This to me was Anthony Perkins at his best. I thought he was great as Norman Bates in the original Psycho and its sequels, but this was by far his best role, I love the part where he is having dinner with his friends and he shocks them by saying, "If there is a piece of food I want I take it *slams fork down on a piece of meat on a friends plate*. If there is a woman I want, I take her *grabs his friend's wife's hand*>". His friend replies asking what if he wants to arrest him. Jekyll says coolly, "You gotta catch me first.". I thought it was interesting that they made Hyde as Jack the Ripped as well. Overall this movie is worth 10 outta 10.

Johnny T (ag) wrote: The film is noted for starting a sub-genre of the jolly St. Nick as a psycho slasher killer. This is true holiday camp because Christmas Evil takes itself seriously as a psychological holiday thriller of dark proportions. You've got to be a bit naughty in spirit to truly appreciate this camp Christmas classic, but if you're the right level of twisted it will delight. Christmas Evil is darkly funny, and makes you realize exactly how creepy Santa can be. Maggart gives an incredibly sympathetic and disturbing performance in a part that requires very little dialogue. Yet we get ludicrous moments such as a Santa Claus police lineup, a murder with a tree topper star, and New Yorkers chasing bad Santa through the streets with torches as if they were villagers in a Universal monster classic. These images, coupled with an astounding ending, make Christmas Evil a joy to watch. It will keep you wondering what was in everybody's egg nog. This is director Lewis Jackson's only film to date, so perhaps the man was exorcizing some yuletide demons of his own. Christmas Evil was a labor of love for him, and it remains his sole cinematic achievement. Christmas Evil is slow in parts; more a character study than a straight ahead slasher flick. This is a bad movie in the classic sense, and you have to see it for what it is to enjoy it.VERDICT: "In The Zone" - [Mixed Reaction] These kinds of movies are usually movies that had some good things, but some bad things kept it from being amazing. This rating says buy an ex-rental or a cheap price of the DVD to own. If you consider cinema, ask for people's opinion on the film. (Films that are rated 2.5 or 3 stars)

Sofie P (nl) wrote: Yuck. This movie was incredibly boring and predictable, while being confusing and leaving SO many plot holes. I hated it. I also personally believe it is much too scary for young kids to be watching, especially towards the end. It lacked good storyline and characters. Nothing about this movie was appealing to me.

Farah R (de) wrote: There's nothing particularly remarkable about Song One. It simply plays out the laughs and cries in the lives of certain people stricken with tragedy. The music certainly lightens the mood and as the movie reaches its ending in fulfillment and satisfaction, there's no doubt it wasn't an enjoyable one.
